Home Is Where The Heart Is

It takes hands to build a house, but only hearts can build a home.

Since I started college over three years ago, I have a new found appreciation for coming home. Don't get me wrong, going to college has been the best years of my life yet and I absolutely love where I go. But there is no better feeling than getting out of classes on Friday and driving home.

I have always been a homebody, but when I was in high school I would get so bored and want to be anywhere but there. But then I moved two hours away. And I know... that is still pretty close compared to many. But just the distance has made me realize how blessed I am.

My college is nicknamed "The Woods" for a reason. We are a few miles away from town and surrounded by trees. But even there it is not as peaceful as it is when I come home. I can see stars in every direction no matter where I look and I can look out my window and see my horses with their heads hanging over the fence just waiting for me to come outside.

Being at college has also made me appreciate my parents way more. I have always been thankful for the amazing people I call "mom" and "dad", but I am even more grateful now. Coming home and seeing them makes my entire week. I couldn't ask for better parents!

Of course, when every August comes, I am itching to get back to The Woods. I miss everybody there and cannot wait until move in day. But even so, home will always be home. Home is where my heart is. <3

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.
