Coming Home for the Holidays

Some of my favorite things about coming home in general, and the holidays.

Coming Home for the Holidays
Tor Olson

Holidays are a time to be spending with your loved ones. But for college students it means it’s a time to go home and eat all of your parents’ food and have them buy you things that you need, and also spend with your family.

The holidays are my favorite time of the year. I also think that the holidays are just about everyone’s favorite time of the year. It’s a time where the family gets together, tells old stories, makes new stories to tell, and eats some amazing food. The holidays are an amazing time of the year.

The smell of home during the holidays is a wonderful thing. The smell of holiday candles burning on the counter, cookies baking in the oven, the smell of egg nog, and apple cider always raise spirits. The decorations around the house make everything feel so cozy. I do not think that there is a bad thing about home during the holidays.

The holidays are also another great excuse to come home. As I have written about before, being able to go home is THE greatest thing ever. Not only do you get to see your parents and siblings, you get to see your animals.

This last week was Thanksgiving break, and seeing my dog for the first time in a while made me realize how much I missed home. There is nothing like walking through the door and your dog jumping up to see you. It is the best feeling in the world. Yes, seeing your family is just as exciting, but we all know that wonderful feeling of seeing your dog.

Holidays are such a wonderful time, and make a great excuse for college students, and other family members, to come home. It is a great feeling knowing that when you walk through the front doors of the house, you will be greeted by your dog along with all your loved ones.

Now that Thanksgiving is over, onto the next best holiday of the year, Christmas.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
