Being Home For Break As Told By NBC Comedy
ssninsider.com

It's the end of the year, which means that it is finally time for a break from the stresses of homework, exams, and extracurricular activities. The only thing that has kept from you going crazy these past couple of weeks has been the idea of running home to your family, home-cooked meals, and your pets. Every year, you cannot wait to go home but usually, after a few days of being there you are flooded with mixed emotions. Coming home after not being there for so long is a rollercoaster.

1. You roll up to the house like a VIP.

You are the guest everyone has really been waiting for. You bring youth, fun college stories, and a little bit of sass back into the house.

2. Your parents and family are so excited that you're back.

Having you out of the house for months isn't easy. For the next few weeks, your family may follow you around like a lost puppy because they want to spend as much time with you as possible before you have to leave again.

3. Your favorite meal is prepared and the fridge is always stocked.

They know that you don't feed yourself properly while you're at school, so they're going to try and make up for those months and months of takeout and ramen.

4. You aren't forced to leave the house or do anything.

Everyone knows that college is a time of stress and staying up late, so your parents are going to let you catch up as much as you need.

5. You're dragged to at least one party.

You have to make appearances and see all of the people that you haven't seen in years.

6. Everyone asks you the questions that you hate.

I still don't know what the proper response to this question is.

7. Somebody will make a joke or reference to your choice of major.

I get it. My degree won't help me get a job after graduation. Thank you.

8. Over the course of being home, there will be at least one moment where you will want to escape.

You can only take so much family time being cooped up in your house.

9. The extended family will make an appearance.

The extended family is a rare breed. They bring with them crazy stories, chaos, and usually some form of drama.

10. After a few days, everything drives you crazy.

Can I go back to school now?

11. Finally, the time has come for you to roll out.

Make that dramatic exit and get out of there! You'll be back over the next break and will be ready to do it all over again.

Happy Holidays!

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
