Recently, I listened to a pastor make a heart-wrenching analogy. When we get to heaven it's going to be great listening to all of these wise bible story characters give their first hand view of all of the miraculous things God has done for them and through them. David defeating Goliath, Esther trusting in God, Abraham, Moses and so many more. But what are we going to say when they ask us, "What was it like? What was it like having God (the Holy Spirit) actually living inside of you."
John 14:26 (ESV) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
If you were like me, my toes were stepped on big time. As a Christian, so many times we starve the Holy Spirit of its job to be our comforter and our guide. We try to do life on our own when in fact God the spirit is right there with us the whole time.
Romans 15:13 (ESV) May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
The spirits there when things are going wonderfully, it's there when life is rough and you feel like you are in the trenches. It's there when you are earnestly seeking after Christ...and when you aren't following him and following the world. Yikes.
We are not alone in life. The Holy Spirit is there to help us along. I don't know about you, but to me this is so encouraging. We have someone to help us, guide us, and comfort us. The Holy Spirit is not going to do all of it for us though. We have to do our part by seeking after God daily by reading his scripture and using our direct access to God through prayer.
Let's live our lives in a way that the Spirit living in us is evident to others.
