Many students say that going to small college is beneficial in numerous ways. You can focus on your studies more, meet new people easily, and create academic relationships with your professors. But, there is usually one complaint that everyone can agree with when being on a small campus: there is never enough parking. Each day it seems like the lot has less and less parking spaces. Because of this, we all go through the same journey in the early hours of the day.
The night before class you tell yourself to wake up on time. You plan to look presentable in the morning and get coffee on the way to school. You'll give yourself an extra 20 minutes so you'll get there before spots are taken. In reality, you wake up late and have no time to get ready.
You jump in the car and drive to campus thinking, "I'll be fine, people are going to be later than me anyway."
After 20 minutes in the car, you reach campus. You feel optimistic driving by the lot, eyeing down the few spots that are left. Pulling into the lot, your heart drops. It looks like everyone was late just like you. The regret of not taking an 8 a.m. runs through your mind. Those lucky students are basically guaranteed prime parking spots. You would know because they would always brag about it.
If it's raining or snowing, you're in for a great time. Everyone seems to forget how to park. Plus, the little spots that were left are now filled with piles of snow or potholes. If your parking lot is on a slant, expect car pinball.
You start to follow the route of the lot, driving ever so slowly. It seems as if all hope is gone by the third lap you make. But then, you see the glorious empty spot! You rush through the line of parked cars, definitely not caring about the speed limit, to finally get a space. When you get there, you realize a motorcycle or small car is parked in what you thought was an empty spot.
Now, it's time for stalking. You need to look for people who are done class that seem to be walking over to the parking lot. A couple more laps around the parking lot are made, trying to find someone. You even drive by the buildings to see if anyone is making their way to their car. Right when you start to lose hope, you see students leaving the building!
You've got a few more minutes to spare before class so it's perfect timing. Slowly but surely, you look to see what spots the students are walking towards. You pull into the lot with excitement, knowing that a parking space is finally free. The student gets into their car and pulls away. Your blinker is on, you have five minutes to spare, and you're feeling pretty good.
But, right then and there, someone swoops in and steals your spot...You were so focused on finally getting parking that you didn't even notice the other car. At this point, you're over it. You could park on the other side of campus but, who really wants to do that? It's no where near the building you're going to. So, looks like it's time to head home. Classes are not worth the stress of finding parking. Tomorrow is a new day!
