What is next from Hollywood Undead?
Today let's talk about the masking wearing band from Los Angeles, Hollywood Undead. For people who have never heard of them then here is a brief backstory about the band. The band was formed in 2005 by former member Deuce and current member J-Dog. Their first song released was on the era of Myspace as Deuce (Aron Erlichman), J-Dog (Jorel Decker), and Shady Jeff (Jeff Phillips) released the song "The Kids." From there with positive feed back, the guys decided to bring high school friends Johnny 3 Teras (George Ragan), Charlie Scene (Jordon Terrell), Funny Man (Dylan Alvarez), and Da Kurlzz (Matt Busek). Sometime later Shady Jeff left the band due to conflicts with Deuce. By 2008, the band released their debut album Swan Songs which hit no. 22 on the Billboard 200 chart. Then after Swan Songs, the band released Swan Songs B-Sides EP exclusively on Itunes which these were like their demo songs before the Swan Songs release. In 2009, Hollywood Undead released their first CD/DVD titled Desperate Measures which included 2 new songs, 4 cover songs, and a lot of live performances from their tour with Skrillex. Soon after their debut album release, the band released their first ever music video for "Young," which is their second most viewed music video behind "Everywhere I Go." Everything looked good for this bright band, but soon everything would take a turn for the worst.
In 2010, founding member Deuce left the band as the stories are to complicated to find out exactly what happened. Some of the stories included musical differences, Deuce's ego taking control over everyone, and rumors about Deuce no longer wanting to tour. Do not get me wrong I am not bad mouthing Deuce, because I support him with his music. He was a part of the band that I liked a lot. One story from Deuce stated that one day after a night in the club, he was jumped by former members Funny Man and J-Dog. These accusations were immediately denied and the story died out as quickly as it started. The story kind of made me loose respect to Deuce just the accusations were false and Deuce tried to sue the band to get the naming rights from the band. So without a lead vocalist, for some time on their tour Charlie Scene did both his verses and the chorus while playing guitar as well. Soon the band recruited good friend Danny Murillo to take over the chorus which at this time Danny passed the auditions for Season 9 of American Idol, but dropped out in order to join the band. Soon after Danny joined, Hollywood Undead began their second studio album titled American Tragedy. This album brought 3 singles forward which were "Hear Me Now," "Comin' in Hot," and "Been to Hell." To promote the next album, they went on a holiday tour with Avenge Sevenfold and Stone Sour with them performing Hear Me Now. Another way to promote the new album was in March of 2011, Hollywood Undead performed on television on the George Lopez show. After the album push back from February 2011, on April 23rd, 2011 Hollywood Undead's second album dropped. At one point in the first months, Hollywood Undead's song "Coming Back Down," made number 96 on Sirius XM hits 1 top 100 for a few weeks. This is not mentioned on their Wikipedia, but I remember hearing it in the car with my family and made them keep the song on.

Now fast forward 2 years with no album release or any song releases, the HU fan base was worried about the band's future. But soon that was debunked as on their website day by day released new masks from all of the members and released one song behind the masks. Only two singles were dropped and rightfully titled "Up In Smoke" and "We Are." Then in January of 2013, the band came out with their third album called Notes from the Underground. This album brought the band back to their rightful self and the fan base with me included rejoice in the album release. The album did so well that at WWE Payback 2013, their song "Another Way Out" was named as the pay-per-views opening song. Soon after the album released, the band came out and said that they were working on their fourth studio album. Then the following year, the fans got a taste from their single titled "Day of the Dead" that was going to show everyone how much the band has evolved and stayed relevant. In March of 2015, Hollywood Undead dropped their fourth studio album titled Day of the Dead, yes I know same as their song. March was memorable for the guys because their album release show in NYC which I was present for, their first album Swan Songs hit the platinum, and yes I just got chills from typing this. By the end of 2015, the band said that they were going back to the studio to make their fifth album.
With the end of 2016 coming in fast approaching, once again Hollywood Undead went silent on every known account including their website as no new songs were released and no details were released on their fifth album. Looks like another dead end, but it is not a dead end as of today (December 4, 2016), on their Instagram released Danny doing vocals which may or may not be for their new album that could come out in 2017. But nothing has been official yet as the guys are doing what they do best is to tease the fans and then suddenly drop a single from out no where like Randy Orton's RKO. So, hopefully by the end of 2017 there will be new Hollywood Undead music, new tour, new merchandise, and a lot of crazy stuff happening. So check up on them through Twitter, Instagram, or their mailing list on their website. If you want to as well, follow the guys individually on their personal accounts on Instagram and on Twitter to continue to follow the teases. Hopefully soon there will be new Hollywood Undead coming and me as a die hard fan will probably die of excitement and over play whatever for a few months and which the band is due in another music video as their last music video was for Gravity. Also, speculation from multiple sources are saying that the band will NOT wear their masks for the album. My personal opinion is I am kind of upset because that's how I viewed them as an awesome rock/crunk band that wore masks all the time. But hopefully in 2017 there will be new Hollywood Undead music, album, and music videos so the die hard fans can be filled with happiness again from everyone's favorite misfits in LA.
