As I sit here writing this Thanksgiving Day is currently nine days away. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It also happens to be one of the most overlooked holidays. However, Turkey Day isn't the only overlooked holiday in November. So, here's a list of 15 other days in November that you've probably never heard of.

1. Cooke Monster's Birthday: November 2nd

Who wouldn't want to celebrate Cookie Monster's birthday?

2. Sandwich Day: November 3rd

People who don't celebrate sandwich day can't be trusted!

3. National Candy Day: November 4th

For me, every day is National Candy Day!

4. Doughnut Day: November 5th

Doughnut day is another holiday that should be celebrated on a daily basis.

5. Basketball Day: November 6th

So, this is an unofficial day but in 1861 on November 6th the man who invented basketball was born (it totally counts as a holiday).

6. USA Election Day: November 8th

So, this isn't actually a holiday but it only comes around every four years and it's a pretty big deal!

7. Veterans Day: November 11th

This is probably one of the few official holidays on this list.

8. National Button Day: November 16th

Fun fact about me: I LOVE BUTTONS! (I don't know why). The fact that there's such a fantastic holiday only four days before my birthday is AMAZING!

9. Take a Hike Day: November 17th

Hiking is fun... if you like exercise.

10. My Birthday: November 20th

This should definitely be an official holiday!

11. Stop the Violence Day: November 22nd

Also not an actual holiday, but it's definitely an important day in November.

12. National Cashew Day: November 23rd

My favorite nut has it's own holiday!

13. Turkey Day: November 24th

An entire day devoted to family and food; I don't know what more I could ask for.

14. National Cake Day: November 26th

Cake is delicious and I'll use any excuse I can find to eat cake.

15. Square Dance Day: November 29th

I have no idea how to square dance but maybe I'll figure it out before the 29th!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
