1. Campus Martius Ice Rink
The ice rink in the heart of Detroit is unrivaled by most. It's open seven days a week and holidays, which means you'll easily be able to fit it into your busy schedule. With a beautiful view of the tree, surrounded by city lights, skating downtown is something you'll have to check off your holiday bucket list.
2. Detroit Zoo Wild Lights
Once the sun goes down, the wild lights start to heat up. The zoo lights are an event that's fun for the whole family or great for a date night. The entire Detroit Zoo is lit up by more than 5 million LED lights, which is sure to brighten up your holiday season.
3. Downtown Rochester Lights
Walking along the sidewalks of downtown Rochester with the ones you love is a great way to celebrate the holidays. Along with great food and shopping available in Rochester, the seeing the town covered in strands of greens and reds and blues is something to put you in the Christmas spirit.
4. Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village
Although I've never been, I've heard only good things about Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village. It was voted top holiday event by USA Today and Reader's Digest, and it sounds like a blast. Greenfield Village invites you to "take a lantern-lit journey into a living snow globe filled with live music, skating, fireworks and tons of winter wonder during America’s premier celebration of the season." If that doesn't sound magical, I don't know what does.
5. Somerest Mall
Shopping at Somerset is an adventure any day of the year, but seeing the extravagant displays put up around Thanksgiving each year are not something to miss. Santa also comes to take pictures with kids, which makes it perfect for a family trip. Not only can you see the beautiful decorations, but you can check any last minute shopping off your to-do list.
Be sure to take family and friends to at least one of these exquisite places for a magical holiday season.
