The Holidays As Told By Buddy The Elf

If you see gum on the street, leave it there. It isn't free candy.

Acceptance that it is approaching

Lets be real, the day after Halloween is when people start getting excited for the holidays. On November 1st, the Christmas Song station came up as recommended on my Spotify, and Target already got their Christmas section out. You will start seeing Christmas everywhere you look.

Start planning gifts

Now that the entire business world is in the spirit, you might as well get in to it too. Get some ideas on what to get your friends and loved ones for the holidays. Start planning early so when Black Friday comes around, you are all geared up to knock some people down to get a good deal. Don't worry though, you have a lot of time to find the perfect gift for everybody in your life!

Before you get too excited, don't forget you have finals exams before the break.

Study! Study! Study!

But, the second your last final ends, the festivities begin!

Pat yourself on the back! You barely made it through finals and now you can relax and enjoy your holiday break!

Now you can officially get into the holiday spirit!

With all obligations off your plate, you can finally tap in to that holiday excitement you have been swallowing for months.

Plan out your holiday break

Go through your days and decide when the parties and family time will be. Plan to spend time with your out of town guests, driving around to see the Christmas lights around town, getting your last minute gifts, and when you are going to open presents.

Here come the gifts

Gifts from everybody in your life are all coming your way at once. Decorate the house and hang your stockings and when you get that one gift you have been waiting for, you scream and jump for joy.

And the family dinners

The holidays are an excuse to bring your family and friends together. You love your family, but they also annoy you to no end with questions about your life that you do not want to answer. There's also the comments on how they don't even recognize you because you have grown so much since they last saw you. You just have to sit there, smile, and pretend you have your life together.

When the food comes in...

The thing that makes all these old people kissing your cheeks and invading your personal life worth it is the food. You eat like you have been training for this moment all year.

Then comes the shame

Why did you eat that much? You were full 20 minutes into the meal and continued to stuff your face.

Eventually, you realize that it is over faster than expected

For months you have been preparing for this day and it comes to an end.

But have no fear..

School does not start again for a few weeks, so you still have fun winter activities to look forward to!

Until it is time for reality to start again

and you login to see your final exam grades from before break started

But you realize, that life goes on

You accept your bad grades from last semester and get to start all over again. Only 365 more days until next Christmas. The next semester starts and you are forced to get back into the groove of your unexciting routine life.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
