With the passing of Thanksgiving, the holiday season is now in full swing. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or none at all, there is no denying that this time of year is different than the rest. But what is it that makes this time of year feel cozier than the rest. I have put together a list that when you read it, you might feel warm and fuzzy.
Holiday Music.
Whether you hate it or have been listening to it since November 1st, it is different than all other genres. Why? Because it lets you know that it is “the most wonderful time of the year”.
Santa.
He is a big fat man with a white long beard and a bright red suit. He is at the mall. He is on your soda cans. He knows when you are sleeping, and when you are awake.
Starbucks Red Cups.
These are definitely a sign that the holiday season is in full swing. Every basic white girl around wants to get her hands on one.
Mistletoe.
If you have a significant other, that seeing this dangle from the ceiling gets you excited. If you don’t well… there is always next year.
Holiday Drinks.
Hot Chocolate tastes the same all year, and so does Egg Nog, but something just feels right about drinking it around this time of year.
Christmas Trees.
These also are around all year, but it is only socially acceptable to bring them inside your house in December.
Holiday Television Specials.
Because everyone knows that if Charlie Brown Christmas, Elf, or How The Grinch Stole Christmas is on, we are watching it.
Bake Cookies.
Not just cookies, cookies for Santa. Or for me.
Lights.
Whether you go all out or keep it simple, your house just feels more full and cozier.
Snow.
We do not get it in Florida, and it really isn’t that special up north. But during the holidays, it seems we are all dreaming of a white Christmas.
Writing A Letter to Santa.
Even though no one in our generation knows how too, it is nice to send him a note. Preferably a list that tells him what I want left under the tree.
Family and Friends.
Yes, it is that time of year when we get to spend lots of extra time with the people that we have to love. But there is something about seeing them during the holidays that makes the holidays special and I wouldn’t want to spend it with anyone else.
