The Holidays are always a special time, and with the holidays always brings a slate of fantastic movies for everyone to see. The holidays are also awards season for films, so many of the movie being released are hoping to receive some Oscar nominations, so everyone knows they have to be good. 5 - SING
Everyone loves a good animated film, and the latest effort from the studio that brought us Despicable Me is yet another laugh out loud movie that you can take your kids too. SING is the animal version of American Idol, but without a whole lot more emotion, and a ton more laughs. With Performances from Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, and Seth McFarlane, the audience will be in stitches until the very end.
4 - Hacksaw Ridge
Everyone loves a good war film, and everyone loves a good comeback. With Hacksaw Ridge, audiences get both. They get the story of the valiant war hero Desmond T. Doss, as well as the comeback of Mel Gibson in the director's chair. Critics are calling it a welcome return for Gibson as well as a harrowing performance in the leading role by Andrew Garfield. People are going so far as to say it is going to be nominated for a few Academy Awards. Seeing as how it has already been nominated for some Golden Globe awards, the film must be one that people fo see this holiday season.
3 - La La Land
La La Land is the latest effort from Whiplash director Damien Chazelle, and oh boy is it a doozy. This film is already garnering appeal for it being a musical, as well as from the acting from Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Many are already calling it the Best Picture of the year, but only time will tell. Because it is a musical, audiences will be singing along with the catchy songs and be singing them on their way out of the theater at the end.
2 - Passengers
Science fiction films always seem to be muddled with superheroes, remakes, rewrites, and sequels. It is very rarely that audiences get to see a truly original story that takes audiences on a wild ride, and Passengers is exactly that. The performances of Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence will leave the audiences with their jaws agape, and the twists and turns along the way will be more than enough to make the movie a holiday season success.

While this one may be cheating a little, due to its popularity, but it would be a crime to not include one of the highest anticipated movies of the entire year. Rogue One is what is called an Anthology story; it is not a numbered episode of the main series, but it is a "spin-off" that helps explain the universe. Star Wars fans around the world have been eager to see this new addition to the series, and people everywhere have been lining up to see the film.
