Holiday Gift Guide For Everybody In Your Life
Urban Outfitters 2012

It's that special time of the year again, folks! Every time the leaves drop and the temperature plummets for the first time, the stress of picking out some great presents always sneaks up on you. Before you know it, Black Friday came and went and you realize that it's time to get your stuff together! Hopefully this gift guide will take some of that stress off of you, whether buying for your best friend or your dad. Happy Holidays!

Girl Friends and Sisters

  1. Tis’ the season, am I right? Comfy pajama pants or shorts are always useful year round, but they’re especially good to cozy up with this holiday season. Check out the great flannel pants that Aerie is offering now.
  2. If you live somewhere cold like me, bundling up is very necessary. If you’ve got to do it, then you might as well look cute! Buy your friend or sister some cute cold weather accessories like a blanket scarf, a fuzzy hat, or some nice boot socks. Francesca's has a great selection!
  3. Mantra bands are not only a super stylish gift, but also very encouraging. They come in three different metal colors and you can pick between dozens of life mottos to keep your friend or sister inspired on the daily.

Guy Friends and Brothers

  1. Every guy has a different style, but sweatshirts come in so many different styles that you’re sure to find one that he’ll love. Stores like Urban Outfitters even has a “Gift Guide For Him” page on their website that offers some great ideas. This Adidas sweatshirt from Urban is comfortable and will keep your guy up with the trends.
  2. Herschel wallets have a great look and are so practical. Any guy would be happy to get this as a gift from you! Plus, there are so many different styles, sizes, and colors to choose from.
  3. Socks sound like such a typical, dreaded present but I promise they can be a great gift to give! At stores like Topman you can find a ton of awesome patterns that guys will love for a great deal, such as this 3 for $15.

Mothers

  1. Moms always work so hard, so buying them a gift card for a nail salon, massage, or spa would be very appreciated and offer them a great escape from the usual madness of life.
  2. Kendra Scott necklaces are very trendy yet super classy and good for everyday wear, which is why they would make a perfect gift for your mother. There are so many different colors and stone types you can choose from, too!
  3. After a long day of doing what moms do, they should be able to wind down with a big, comfy throw blanket. There are so many to choose from but the ones from Anthropologie have my heart! You can also check out Urban Outfitters, Macy’s, and Kohl's for some more great options!

Fathers

  1. This is a little more on the pricer side, but it’s well worth the money! The Tile is a keychain and app that helps you find your keys if you misplace them, which my dad seems to do quite often.
  2. Men have to stay warm too, so getting your dad a comfy hat or beanie for the colder weather will be very practical and appreciated.
  3. Give your father the gift of style and protection by getting them a nice phone case! This gift is underrated because it’s not only very important to have, but you know they’ll use it everyday. Nordstrom has some great options for men’s phone cases.

Significant Others

  1. Watches are really nice quality and thoughtful gifts, so they’re perfect for a significant other! They come in a wide price range so you’re sure to find one that works for you. Nordstrom has great choices, as well as Daniel Wellington, Fossil, Guess and Urban Outfitters.
  2. Perfume or cologne is not only a great gift for your significant other, but for you too since you’re the one smelling them all the time. So, It’s a win win! Sephora has the best options and variety, but you can usually find the same one’s on Amazon as well so make sure to check that out!
  3. Personally, I think Homemade gifts are the way to go because they’re so sentimental and it’s obvious that you put a lot of time and thought into their gift. Pinterest is the DIY haven, so you’re sure to find a ton of great gift ideas there.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
