As the holidays approach, we all have to start thinking about what to get the loved ones in our lives – fortunately sports fans are some of the easiest people to shop for. Unfortunately, I can’t help much with other types of gifts… but almost everyone can appreciate a piece of their favorite team’s memorabilia. Here is my gift guide for the sports fan in your life, I’m sure he or she willappreciate. I have also included links to all of my favorite online sports shops at the end of the article.
1. The most obvious… the team’s jersey.
If you want to change it up a bit if you have recently gifted them one, you can look up the team’s throwback jerseys, which come out a lot during the holiday season. You can also inquire on who their favorite retired player is and look for that player’s jersey instead.
2. The team's memorabilia
Whether it be a signed ball, framed jersey, autographed framed photos of players/the team, etc. If you want to stay on the cheaper side, try looking for felt wall hangings of the team’s insignia or canvas prints of players/the team.
3. Team apparel
You can’t go wrong with t-shirts with the team logo or slogans unique to the team, basketball shorts, yoga pants, customized shoes (great selection on Etsy.com), engraved wallets for men, anything from the Dooney & Bourke professional sports team line or jewelry for women or fuzzy socks, beanies and small trinkets make great stocking stuffers.
4. Books on the team/player
Most sports teams have historical books with amazing photographs from the past that make any fan nostalgic and makes for a great gift. Certain players also have biographical books, so if you know their favorite player, check to see if they have written one themselves or have one written about them!
5. The sport's video game
If they like to play video games and own a gaming system, you can get them games like NBA or MLB 2K18, Madden NFL 18, or another game that corresponds with their sport.
6. Blankets
Pretty self-explanatory, but professional sports blankets are some of the most comfortable things ever… I sleep with mine every night.
7. Kitchen appliances
For the cook of your house, this is a great Christmas gift because it’s a two for one – they get something useful (make sure you get them an appliance or utensil that they actually need) and they get another piece of sports gear for their home.
8. A cornhole game with their team on the faces
Again, pretty self-explanatory… this makes for a fun excuse to get outside and play a friendly – but obviously competitive – game of cornhole with your friends and family. This way you can have fun with the gift, too!
9. Drinking/shot glasses
Stained or engraved glasses or shot glasses with the team’s logo on it look classy but double as an excuse to earn some liquid courage during their new cornhole game.
10. Last, but not least, tickets to see their favorite team
If their sport is in season, you can get them tickets to see them if they are local. If they aren’t local, you can still get tickets to your hometown team because a fan of the sport will appreciate going to any game. If the sport is in its off-season – as baseball is – you can buy tickets in advance as they are already on sale, then they will have something to look forward to!
I hope this helps if anybody has been having trouble figuring out what to get anyone close in your life! Happy shopping!
