Christmas is a little over a week away, and as school is ending for the year and vacation days are starting, maybe you're looking for a date idea in the Charlotte area. While Charlotte is full of many things to do year-round, during the holidays they offer many unique events as well.

Holidays at the Hall

The NASCAR Hall of Fame offers ice skating all throughout the holidays. From early in the day, to late at night, you can go and ice skate right in Uptown Charlotte. For admission and skate rental, it's only $14 per person!

Speedway Christmas

The Charlotte Motor Speedway gives you the opportunity to go and drive through the track and look at Christmas lights. They also offer a Christmas Village with a petting zoo, live nativity, carriage rides, and more. I've been three times, and enjoyed it every time. On nights with the Christmas village, costs are $30 a car, and other nights it is $20.

Holidays at the Garden

The Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, transform into a winter wonderland during the holidays. They offer carriage rides throughout the gardens as well. Tickets are $14.95 and carriage rides are $6 a person.

The Nutcracker

Enjoy the classic show put on by the Charlotte Ballet. Performances are at the Belk Theater and tickets range anywhere from $25-125.

Christmas Town USA

Just a quick drive from the heart of Charlotte is McAdenville, NC. During the holidays, the entire town transforms into a Christmas wonderland. You can drive through the town and look at the lights, or park and walk.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
