In what feels like the blink of an eye, the holidays are already almost here. Thanksgiving will come and go faster than we know it and soon, we'll be gearing up for the Christmas season.

One of the best parts of the holidays, as we all know, is the food. However, for those of us who try to be mindful of what we consume over the holidays, it can be hard when we're faced with tables full of deliciously tempting food. If there's one thing I believe in during the holidays (besides Santa, of course), it's that calories don't count during this festive season, and here are 15 reasons why:

1. The food is great.

2. ...and you don't want it to go to waste.

3. You worked so hard to make the food,

4. ...as did your relatives (and you wouldn't want to insult them by not eating it).

5. You don't want to have to throw away leftovers.

6. A few days of treating yourself won't do any harm.

7. ...nor will it ruin a year's worth of hard work.

8. It's sweater season, anyway.

9. ...so why not conceal your food baby with a sweater for a few weeks?

10. If the nutritional value doesn't accompany the dish, there aren't any calories...right?

11. It's socially acceptable to eat until you fall asleep on the couch surrounded by family.

12. You deserve to enjoy the holidays for what it is-- a time to connect with family and friends over delicious food and drinks.

13. You'll ruin the holidays by obsessing over your latest diet.

14. Salad is likely the healthiest option available, and nobody wants to eat that with SO much else to choose from.

15. You'll have plenty of time to work off the calories in the new year.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
