Christmas is the best time of the year, at least to most people. Kids get a break from school, college kids come home and relax after five months of crazy and adults take off a few days of work to be with family. Spending time with family is something that will be very valuable. If you are looking for a movie to see around this Christmas with the family, or because you need a holiday break, here is a list of the movies coming out this December.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (December 17)
Starring: Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, and more.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is about the Galactic Empire, Han Solo and his allies facing a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren and his army of Stormtroopers.
"Sisters" (December 18)
Starring: Maura Ellis, Tina Fey, John Cena
Sisters is about two siblings whose parents decide to sell the family home and they are allowed one weekend to clean out all of their old belongings. During this time, they decide to throw one last party to relive their old days with old classmates. This is a comedy and looks pretty promising.
"Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip" (December 18)
Starring: Jason Lee, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, Bella Throne
Their music manager Dave has a relationship growing which looks to be a marriage proposal soon. The three little chipmunks go on a cross-country adventure to prevent this from happening and ruining their lives.
"Yellow Day" (December 25)
Starring: Drew Seeley, Lindsey Shaw, Ashley Boettcher
Yellow Day is about a young man who attends a camp where he has life changing experiences and begins his spiritual journey using his faith, his hope and the love surrounding him.
"The Revenant" (December 25)
Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Will Poulter, Domhnall Gleeson, Lukas Haas
The Revenant is about main character Hugh Glass and his team exploring the wilderness. During this time, he is attacked by a bear and is left to die by his team. Hugh Glass must then use his survival skills to make it back to his family and track down the man who betrayed him.
"Point Break" (December 25)
Starring: Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Edgar Ramirez, Ray Winstone
These criminals throughout the movie perform daredevil stunts to steal money and other possessions, which they give to the poor and charity. The movie consists of these stunts as the work against FBI agent, Angelo, and live a normal life.
"Joy" (December 25)
Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro
Joy is about a woman who founded her own business dynasty. Joy will face challenges with business, family, and learn how to be a true boss. Throughout you will see these challenges in relationships and daily decisions she will make.
"Daddy’s Home" (December 25)
Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Linda Cardellini, Hannibal Buress Vince Vaughn
Brad wants to be a great stepfather to his new wife's children. During this time it starts working, the dad comes back into town and Brad has to fight to be the cooler dad. Brad finds himself in a rivalry in his own family. Seen as a comedy.
"Concussion" (December 25)
Starring: Will Smith, Alec Baldwin, Luke Wilson
By looking at an autopsy of a former NFL Player, a pathologist discovers a new neurological deterioration, similar to Alzheimers. The new disorder is named chronic traumatic encephalopathy and publishes his findings in a medical journal. This move is about public awareness and the dangers of football related head trauma.
