To The Person Who's Holding On To Life By A String, I Know Exactly How You Feel

I know how you feel because I've been there.

Your hands hurt, your fingers are cramping, your body is tired, your mind is in chaos, and you're scared.

You look around and you see nothing. There aren't any ledges around you to grasp. You look up and see a small string, impossible to climb. You look down and you see yourself dangling over an endless pit without a bottom. You see nothing. You hear nothing. You have nothing. But the string.

The string. The one tangible thing you have. The one last thing you can grasp onto. If you let go, you fall. So you hold on, because it's the one lifeline that keeps you from falling into a place of the unknown.

You're wondering how you got to this point. One string. One string is all you have. At one point you had so much control, but now you've lost it all. But one string. You have nowhere else to turn, no one else to talk to, and as you grow tired the one control you have is slipping from your hands.

You're holding on as tight as you can, but you're exhausted. You've tried to climb up and you can't. You're hanging by a hand, hoping you can wait until someone comes around and sees you. You're hoping you can call out and someone might just hear you. You're searching for another thing to grasp onto for stability.

You are the person holding onto life by one string, the only thing you control. You're scared and lonely, and you don't want to fall because you don't know what's going to happen. It looks like you've reached the end.

To the person holding onto life by one string, you've been so worried about the string, looking up and around for a way out, that you've not even noticed the net underneath you when you glance down.

Let go. Just let go.

Let go of the last string you control, because your hands are tired. Stop trying to grasp onto the string as if holding on with two hands will ease the stress on your tired body. Stop worrying about the uncertainty you'll face if you fall, because the uncertainty you see isn't really unknown at all.

Let go. Just let go.

And let God. God has been with you this whole time, ready to catch you when you decide to let go. God has been ready with open arms to embrace you and support you.

God is showing you he is neither better or less than to you. God is not reaching up from below and trying to pull you down. God is not waiting above you, trying to keep you from falling. God is spotting you, letting you decide when it's time to give yourself a break.

Let go. Just let go.

When you let go of the string you're so desperately trying keep, you're letting go of the emotional, physical, and mental burdens you carry.

Let go. Just let go.

You're safe. You'll be caught by the one who is truly in control. You'll no longer fear what's below you, or how you're going to hold on, because when you let go you'll be held up by God on a solid foundation.

To the person holding on to life by one string, it's easy to let yourself become tired from trying to hold on by yourself. So just take a deep breath, let your worries go, let your burdens fall, let go of the string, and give control to God.

Sincerely,

The girl who learned it was OK to let go

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
