Why Hold My Past Accountable?

Surely, harmful actions should not go unnoticed, but it should strictly serve as a lesson, and not a distraction from the person's credibility.

Hello world!!!! This is the year 2018, where you are judged by everything you do, speak, say and how you are looking. It can determine whether you obtain a job, get a date, get married, get a huge part in my movie, or even get into a subpar fraternity party...as if the party desperately needed some life added to it. But that is a story for another day.

There is one thing that supersedes all of those events and circumstances that people just cannot let go of: THE PAST!!!!!!

The past seems to creep up on the future, every chance it gets. As society would always say, "what you do in the past, will shape how your future plays out to be." And I will be damned if that was not true.

Most individuals nowadays always bring up the past; every time their significant other does something unfaithfully, every time an athlete makes headlines for the wrong things, or when a president runs for office. It is like people will never let things go.

But hey!!!! We have all been prisoners of "never letting go." There have been times where I did not let go of how people treated me in high school, or when girls rejected me, and I would give them the stank eye.

Even Trayvon Martin's Mom has not forgiven George Zimmermann for what he had done to her precious son. And rightfully so.

When it comes to jobs and entertainment opportunities, your past should not be a factor.

We all have done things in our past that we are not proud of. They are downright despicable, idiotic, uncanny and disappointing. I have did things that have turned people's stomachs. It caused me to lose respect and lose friends. But more importantly, it has caused me to lose jobs. And that is not right.

Just because I said something you did not like, or you got offended because my views does not align with your views, does not give you the right to deny me of a job or a chance to be a fraternity brother.

We all have to lay our sins at the alter or at God's cross, because that is exactly what he died for. None of you who are reading this, are Jesus and NEVER will be.

The bible says, "judge not and you shall not be judged." But we still do it anyway. And we do it in ways that ridicule, demonize, condemn and shame the wrongdoer.

Surely, harmful actions should not go unnoticed, but it should strictly serve as a lesson, and not a distraction from the person's credibility.

There was a quarterback by the name of Josh Allen, who is a rising prospect for the NFL, and will be a rookie this upcoming year. He is a guy who has a repertoire that consists of, great arm strength, pinpoint accuracy, and the ability to sling the football from goal post to goal post.

But the real story that surrounds Josh Allen, is a couple of tweets that were racially motivated, and racially sensitive. A little over 8 years ago, when Allen was in high school, he spewed some hateful stupid tweets inspired by rap lyrics. *Whomever wrote those lyrics is stupider than a doorknob.

But nonetheless, according to him, he claims that he has learned from his mistakes and that he was a reckless kid who did not know any better. He apologizes tirelessly for it, and deeply regrets ever spewing that type of hateful language. Now I do not sincerely believe he deeply regrets saying those words. I just believe he deeply regrets being caught for it. But I am not one of those people who would hold a a hateful grudge over something that was said 8 years ago.

He was right. He was stupid for, spewing that type of tomfoolery. But it would be hypocritical of us to hold something back from him, for something he has worked years to achieve.

Now I do not condone the comments, but one action does not defy who you are; however, multiple actions speak to who you are as individual. And right now, this is the only offense that he has on his record. And it better stay that way for his sake.

We are in the year 2018, where everything has become sensitized and sugar coated, into heart shaped cookies that will easily crumble, when bitten. But Josh Allen was a kid, and should be treated as such in that pastime. If we truly believe there is goodness in others, then we should turn the other cheek and "let things go." And he still deserves a chance in the NFL.

There was another story with Donte DiVincenzo: the hero, the monarch, the most outstanding player(MOP) of the NCAA basketball tournament. He is a player for the National Champion Villanova Wildcats, and he led his team to victory. During that same night, a pesky, nosy, unruly, stupid individual decided to take away DiVincenzo's joy by posting a story of a tweet, that he made years ago in high school.

What goes through theses reporter's minds when they are about to ruin the success and joy that these men have garnered?!?! These reporters have nothing better to do, than to tarnish and ripple a man's reputation.

But for the real individuals who are willing to look past things, you are great samaritans, who should not go unnoticed.

And for the people who are bound by everything they hear or see, you suck hard!!!!!!

But again, I ask you, why hold my past accountable???

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September.
