Every house has both positive and negative traits.

Everything and everywhere has its own stereotypes. And that doesn't exclude the wonderful world that J.K. Rowling has created for us. The mythical world Rowling gave us that in turn brought so many of us magic, joy, sorrow, love, tears. There are few things in the world that I love as much as I love the Harry Potter series. I can talk about it for hours, read the books multiple times and re-watch the movies again and again. Being a kid with a wild imagination, who loved witch and wizard stories made the Harry Potter series the perfect series for me and I attribute much of my love of reading to Harry Potter. I cried the first time I stepped foot into Diagon Alley at Universal Studio. My first stop was to go get a robe and a wand. Which wand I wanted I was unsure of but I knew exactly what robe I was going for: Slytherin.

The other day I was having a conversation with a guy and we ended up talking about Harry Potter and he asked me what house I'm in. I proudly told him that I'm a Slytherin to which he responded, "Oh, really? Why do you want to be that?" I told him that I was honest with myself I knew where I fall (plus Pottermore and every other quiz I've ever taken has placed me in the green robes.) I guess most people want to identify with Gryffindor. Everyone wants to be the popular hero and honestly most people who tell me Gryffindor and haven't read the first page in a book, well I am quick to forget their opinion. Anyway it seems there are negative ideas and stereotypes for the other three house while Gryffindor gets all the glory. Let us not forget that every house has both positive and negative traits.

Hufflepuff.

Hufflepuff might even catch a harder reputation than Slytherin. Some of my best friends are Hufflepuffs. Hufflepuffs are extremely loyal. They are kind and honest people who have a great care for others. Friendship is extremely important to them. Hufflepuffs strongly feel that hard work deserves a reward. They are patient and think logically. A Hufflepuff could be friends with anyone. The strongest trait associated with Hufflepuff is their loyalty and who doesn't want a loyal friend.

Notable Hufflepuffs: Nymphadora Tonks, Cedric Diggory, Pomona Sprout, Silvanus Kettleburn, Newton Scamander, Helga Hufflepuff and Artemisia Lufkin.

*Fun fact: the actor, Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley is a Hufflepuff.

Negative factors are that Hufflepuffs can be afraid to be alone, can easily be taken advantage of, are passive aggressive and sometimes like to play it a little too safe.

Ravenclaw.

Ravenclaw is known for being independent, smart and passionate people. Who are also sometimes creative, are open minded and are often very witty. Ravenclaws are full of wisdom and have a strong desire to learn. They are original and pride themselves on that fact.

Notable Ravenclaws: Luna Lovegood, Sybill Trelawney, Garrick Ollivander, Filius Flitwick, Cho Chang, Quirinus Quirrell, Gilderoy Lockhart and Myrtle Warren.

*Fun Fact: the sorting hat strongly considered placing Hermione Granger into the Ravenclaw house.

Negative factors of Ravenclaw is that they can be rude to people they consider to be ignorant, can sometimes recluse and be antisocial, they struggle with small talk and miss their surroundings due to day dreaming.

Gryffindor.

Gryffindors are known for their bravery. They are daring and they won't back down while standing up for their friends and defending those they love. A Gryffindor maintains a strong moral compass.

Notable Gryffindors: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Sirius Black, Albus Dumbledore, Neville Longbottom, Remus Lupin, Minerva McGonagall and Ron Weasley.

*Fun Fact: Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy is a Gryffindor.

Negative factors of Gryffindor include caring more about glory than the deed itself, can be reckless, dramatic, gets bored easily and do not always have the best motives.

Slytherin.

Slytherins are great leaders and have a strong ambition. The take risk and they are loyal friends. They are perseverant and they believe in being fair. Slytherins are great listeners and the work well in "team" settings. They are also extremely witty and cunning.

Notable Slytherins: Merlin, Severus Snape, Lord Voldemort, Andromeda Tonks, Bellatrix Lestrange, Narcisa Malfoy, Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy and Pansy Parkinson.

*Fun Fact: Ariana Grande, the signer, is a Slytherin.

Negative factors of Slytherin include being to ambitious and not having concern for others due to their own ambition. They like to be in their clique and aren't always inviting. Slytherins can be power-hungry and can be extremely bossy.

Everybody has their strengths and everybody has their weaknesses. But when it comes down to it, we all make up a remarkable world. If everyone was the same it wouldn't have any color. There are many lessons we can take away from the Harry Potter series but one of the strongest ones is to not judge someone just because of their name or race, pure blood, half-blood or Mudblood. We have to have both light and dark in the world. As Dumbledore would say "“Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.” We all have a lot we can learn from the series but if you take away anything know that we all, no matter our house, our race, gender, ECT deserve love and respect. So lets the Slytherins be Slytherins, the Gryffindors be Gryffindors, the Hufflepuffs be Hufflepuffs and the Ravenclaws be Ravenclaws.

Oh and if you're wondering where you fall let the sorting hat place you but don't forget the sorting hat will after all take your thoughts into consideration.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone does not try to help their self before asking others. How can someone else be expected to help you if you do not first do that yourself? I'm all about helping those that need it when the time comes, however whenever someone does not even attempt to help him or herself first then that becomes a huge problem. As we all have learned, people tend to take advantage of us in one way or another. I am sure we all read this short story when we were younger and it follows that same principle:

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.
