Frequently Asked Questions About Hofstra Music Fest 2017
Hofstra Music Fest

Hofstra Music Fest is right around the corner. And Hofstra Students have a lot of questions about the event. I've tried to lay out the most frequently asked questions about Music Fest this year so that people can know all the details and get ready for the biggest event of the Spring Semester.

Who's performing?

I wish I could say. I really wish I could.

Why haven't artists been announced?

Unfortunately, once artists have been chosen, there is a long process that contracts have to go through before artists can legally be announced to the public. This is a process that takes several months depending on the process and the companies involved.

Who puts on Music Fest?

Music Fest is a student-run event put on by Hofstra Concerts and Entertainment Unlimited. Members from these clubs have worked all semester to bring this awesome event to Hofstra.

When is Music Fest?

Music Fest is on Saturday May 6 from 12 PM to 6 PM.

Where does Music Fest take place?

It takes place on the intramural fields next to the HofstraUSA parking lot and Colonial Square.

What does it cost to go to Music Fest?

It's free. All you need to do is bring your Hofstra ID and you're good to go.

How do I sign up guests?

Hofstra Concerts and Entertainment Unlimited are tabling in the Student Center atrium the week of May 1-5. Each Hofstra student can sign up to 2 guests for $10 each. Stop by the Student Center atrium table from 10 - 5 each day this week to pay for the guests tickets. Your guests can pick up their wristbands the day of Music Fest.

Can I sign up guests on the day of Music Fest?

No. The last day to purchase Music Fest guest tickets is Thursday May 4th.

Why is called Music Fest, not Spring Fest?

Music Fest has always been called Music Fest since the first year back in 2007. You might hear people annoyingly correct you when you say Spring Fest. The reason that we push for it to be called Music Fest is because 1) that's the name of the event and 2) Fall Fest is a University run event, while Music Fest is a student run event. We just want to differentiate between the organizers of each Fest so there isn't any confusion.

What happens if it rains?

Rain or shine, Music Fest is happening!

What are the raffle prizes?

You can enter for a chance to win 5 different prizes: VIP Passes, tickets to Governor's Ball, a Ticketmaster gift card, a movie-themed basket, and a beach-themed basket. Also, Daniel Wellington will be raffling off their signature watches. Raffle tickets are 1 for $3 or 2 for $5.

How do I sign up for the Music Fest 5K?

You can stop by the Running Club Atrium table this week and sign up. It's $15 that goes towards charity. You can also sign up the day of the event. First 50 to sign up receive an exclusive T-shirt.

What kind of giveaways are there?

Throughout the day, you have the chance of getting a Music Fest T-shirt, wristband, phone card sleeve, water bottle, and beach ball.

Can you save me a t-shirt?

No.

Will I have fun?

Yes of course! This is the greatest event of the semester!

From all of us at Hofstra Concerts and Entertainment Unlimited, we can assure you that Music Fest 2017 is going to be a fantastic event. Come join us on Saturday May 6.

If you have any questions, you can email us at hofstraentertainment@gmail.com or hofstraconcerts@gmail.com.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Samantha Sigsworth

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
