1. Barn:
Simply a rink or arena. This is where the game is played.
2. Biscuit:
AKA the puck; made of vulcanized rubber and serves as the "ball" of the sport.
3. Celly:
A brief, celebratory (celly-bratory) move after scoring a goal. Can look like any of the above and more.
4. Goon:
a player who's best asset is fighting. And, as any true fan knows, hockey is nothing without a good fight.
5. Flow:
Referring to a player's hair when it becomes longer than the limits of their helmet.
6. Mitts:
Refers to the gloves worn by the players. "The gloves are off" is a common indication from the announcer that a fight has broken out on the ice.
7. Saucer:
A type of pass that is glides through the air and ends up on the blade of a teammate's stick.
8. Snipe:
More than just a term for gunslingers, but still defining a perfect shot; in this case, one that glides into the net effortlessly after either sneaking between the goalies legs or hitting pole before entering the net.
9. Sweater:
of course, this refers to a hockey jersey. What would be a more appropriate name for the jerseys worn in the world's coldest sport?
