If you are a fan of Nintendo and a fan of fighting pocket monsters, then you probably know what I'm going to be talking about today. I'm talking about the amazing world of "Pokemon," the world in which trainers collect tiny pocket monsters to train so they can fight with other battle monsters and do whatever they can to become the very best. Ever since its start in 1996, the world of "Pokemon" has grown so much that there are countless games, movies and TV shows for fans to enjoy. The number of creatures that exist in the "Pokemon" universe keeps expanding as each generation releases a new video game for people to enjoy. Like I said, there are many outlets to the "Pokemon" world and it's hard to keep up with everything that is going on in the franchise with each new outlet that is being released.
Main Video Games
The "Pokemon" world was first introduced in two video games made for the Game Boy: "Pokemon Red" and "Pokemon Blue." The games pretty much set up the main storyline for most of the video games that would come our way. A young child receives a Pokemon and goes on an epic journey to become a Pokemon master as he fights and captures other Pokemon to build up your fighting team.
The journey will involve encountering other Pokemon trainers that will stop you from becoming the next great Pokemon master. The basic story line is how the next "Pokemon" games will work and there are two games for every generation. There has even been talk of two new "Pokemon" games that are going to be released in late 2016 for the 20th anniversary of the "Pokemon" franchise and to have the latest game for this generation of fans.
Spinoff "Pokemon" Games
Along with the mainstream games that people get excited to play each time a new one is released, there have also been some video games for people to keep themselves occupied. There have been games where a person can have a team of six Pokemon and they can duke it out in "Pokemon Stadium."
A person could also go on a journey to take a picture of Pokemon in the various world in "Pokemon Snap." The newest "Pokemon" fighting game, "Pokken Tournament," is a game where you take a popular Pokemon and fight your way up to the top leagues. Recently, it has been announced a new mobile game, "Pokemon Go!" is in the works and that is where a person can use their mobile device to hunt for Pokemon out in the real world. I'm already planning on taking a "Pokemon Go" road trip with some friends on mine when the game comes out.
TV Shows
The first TV show was released around 1997 and has a very nice story to tell with the number of shows that have appeared after that. The first series involves a boy named Ash Ketchum as he starts out his journey as a Pokemon trainer and become the very best.
The legacy of that TV show was truly great as it has been expanded to more TV shows because of each new generation of video game that is released. The shows either choose to continue with the storyline of the first one or it goes off to do it's own spinoff/story for people to follow.
Movies
There have also been a lot of movies that have been released that continue the plot line of the TV shows. There has pretty much been a movie for each TV show that has been released and the plots are varied. Each movie involves the main character trying to catch a legendary Pokemon and there have been at least 18 of them released. With each new generation of "Pokemon" that is created, there is a good chance that there is a movie that is going to be released to go along with it.
Trading Card Game
Most people know about the "Yu-Gi-Oh!" and the "Magic the Gathering" card games that are really popular nowadays. "Pokemon" decided to jump onto the bandwagon of having its own trading card game for the fans to enjoy.
The main rules of the game are that a player can have up to seven Pokemon as their battlers as the player can take on another player's "Pokemon" cards. The person can start a collection of cards to build up their deck and to have different types of Pokemon to have in their deck.
