Hip Hop is Cool But It Can Do Better

Hip Hop needs some improvements

For years, Hip Hop has grown to a widely know genre through out the world. All of this started from the South Bronx in New York. Today, Hip Hop comes in many different languages that you can think of like for example: French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and etc. I love to state that was blessed enough to grow an era where Hip Hop was on fire. Classic after classic was being created every single day; do not get me wrong there is some people out there that are creating classics now like J. Cole and Kendrick Lamer but not like it use to be when I was growing up.

Around my high school days, I use to bring a few Hip Hop CDs in a case that I can bring anywhere. I would always have a mix of Trick Daddy, Eminem, Big Pun, and Pitbull (before he became Mr. Worldwide). Sometimes in the morning before catching the bus, I would quickly switch 2 of my CDs out of my case and add Mobb Deep or The Game (The Documentary is my all time favorite) and run to the bus while I had my headphones playing one of my CDs. When I would arrive to my bus, I would zone out as I was sitting in my seat. I would listen closely to the lyrics and catch brilliant lines like I'm dressed to kill if I look in the mirror its suicide” or "Mayonnaise Colored Benz, I push Miracle Whips." Now, when I typed those lines down just now, I almost threw my Mac Pro in the air because it’s pretty amazing.

Hip Hop these days, honestly? Does not have the spirit it once did when I was growing up. In 2016, most of these artists today cannot be lyrically compatible against a newborn crying baby. Something needs to be done so we can bring the old Hip Hop back, I understand things change within time but it’s changing for the worse instead of the better. Hip Hop artists are simply not challenging themselves anymore to be the best out there. It’s like they just get into the studio, record, and just start blabbering nonsense that sometimes we cannot understand.

Hip Hop can go back to the way it was, if Hip Hop artists today better their craft more. The only way Hip Hop can survive is pushing forward strong so that it can last and not fade away like other music has for the past couple of years. I believe Hip Hop has the potential to be bigger than it is today. We must go back in time so the music artist of today are reminded about what Hip Hop really was. We need to adopt old traditions like free styling in some corner with a group of friends to see who spits the best freestyle. We need to go back to having battles of artist against artist to see who is superior in the their craft so the person who loses the battle can go back to the drawing board and train till the day they can finally beat their opponent that they have lost against. This will set Hip Hop on the right track so future Hip Hop artist do not go the wrong direction and make music that is medicine for the mind and soul.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
