The HIMYM in Every Friend Group

Are you the Barney Stinson of your crew?

The HIMYM in Every Friend Group

The "How I Met Your Mother" television series ended last year, but the show was so "legen" -- wait for it -- "dary" that it's unlikely to be forgotten any time soon. Every single episode is conveniently on Netflix as well, so if any other college kid is anything like me, they've binge watched the series a time or two while trying to avoid responsibilities like laundry and homework. That fun loving group of friends is just so relatable that there has to be a Lily, Marshall, Ted, Barney and Robin in your circle, right? Let's find out.

Lily Aldrin

The Lily in your crew is the one that manages everything from shuffles to study groups. She is the take charge friend who doesn't take no for an answer and maybe even meddles in your latest relationship to make sure it's up to your standards. But she is also the most compassionate of the group, and will always go the extra mile to give you a shoulder to cry on when need be. She might also (coincidentally?) be dating the Marshall of your friend group.

Marshall Eriksen

This would be your super silly, super lovable friend. This friend is the friend that you and everyone else always wants to be around. The Marshall of your group is extremely driven, not afraid to show emotion and maybe even sings about every single thing that he or she does. This friend is the one that wants the best for you and the world in general, and is crazy enough to leave a great paying job to follow his or dreams of helping the world (or in Marshall's case, the environment).

Robin Scherbatsky

Obviously, if you have a Canadian friend or a journalism pal, you could make him or her the designated Robin. This friend could also be the independent and uber successful one of the group. They probably don't mess around with relationships too often, and if they do, they tend to keep most of the details to themselves. The Robin is the wing woman and the total bro of the group. This friend could be dressed up on Friday with the girls, but on Saturday, you might find her in a pant suit smoking cigars or at a sports bar with the guys.

Barney Stinson

This is your friend that never wants to grow up or settle down. You probably don't even know what the Barney friend does for a living, and won't know for another eight years. This friend is always down for a good time and is the one that convinces you to go out on the weekend even when you really need to study for that upcoming exam. Everything can be turned in to a bet or challenge with the Barney of the group. This friend says whatever they please and you just have to accept the fact that you will never fully understand him or her. But no matter what, their intentions are good and deep down they are just as much of a softie as the rest of us.

Ted Mosby

Every circle needs a Ted. This friend loves unconditionally and will always take the leap of faith to tell someone their feelings. This friend is passionate about all aspects of his or her life and will never ever give up on something that they really feel is worth it. This friend is the hopeless romantic and the grammar freak. You can't help but admire their belief that good people and true love is out there even after his or her heart has been broken time and time again. Bonus points if you really do have a friend that has a yellow umbrella.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
