Every joy and every pain

If you have not heard the song "Hills and Valleys" by Tauren Wells, I highly suggest you find the time to look it up. I heard this song on the radio one day on the way to work, and it really spoke to me. The song repeats, "You're God of hills and valleys". Many people know the verse, "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death..." Pslams 23:4. This verse is commonly used because it reminds us that God is always there for us. However, My eyes were open to a new translation when I found a story in the book of kings. This story really opened my eyes to a new perceptive as to how amazing and faithful my God is.when I think about God of the hills and valleys.

In the book of Kings there is a passage that talks about how the people of Israel were under attack. Their attackers said that they would attack the people of Israel in the valley because they believed that God was in the mountains, but that he wasn't present in the valleys. The verse says "Then the man of God went to the king of Israel and said, "This is what the LORD says: The Syrians have said, 'The LORD is a god of the hills and not of the plains.' So I will defeat this vast army for you. Then you will know that I am the LORD." 1 Kings 20:28

However, God proved this foolish theory wrong as the scriptrue continues to say, "Then on the seventh day the battle was joined. And the people of Israel struck down the Syrians 100, 000 foot solider in one day" 1 Kings 20:29

What these people failed to realize, and what I sometimes fail to realize is that God is not just greater than our ups and downs, but he is also constantly there standing with us during our ups and down. I think that sometimes the enemy likes to trick us into believing that he can get to us at our lows, or he can even drive us to our lows. The enemy is constantly looking for people who are down on themselves to attack. However, what the enemy doesn't know is that our God is present in our lows. We are never alone, and God sees us no matter where we stand. When we are going through the tough times, the enemy loves to whisper things like "you'll never amount to anything", "your problems will always be there", "you can't change your situation". However, our God is saying to us "I will defeat this vast army for you", "I have plans and purposes", "I will restore you".

If you feel as though the enemy is tying to tell you things to make you feel stranded in a valley, or if you feel as though the enemy is having a field day at your lowest point, make sure you let the enemy know that your God is right there with you. God wants to take you back up on the moutain and restore your joy. God will fight for you wherever you are.

It doesnt matter where you are standing, but rather what you choose to put your eyes on. Lift your eyes to the mountain. Tell the enemy that your God is a God of the hills and valleys.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
