FBI director James Comey threw a wrench in the presidential election on Friday when he announced that the FBI would be investigating a group of newly discovered emails from Hillary Clinton’s private server. Being that this is such a new and intense matter, there is not yet much public information on the investigation but I will sum up the highlights quickly.
What we know:
- The FBI states that the emails found are “pertinent” to Clinton’s private email server
- There are over 1,000 new emails being reviewed for any trace of “classified information”
- It is unlikely that the investigation will be completed by election day
- The emails were discovered in the investigation of New York congressman, Anthony Weiner
- Hillary called the newly developing investigation “unprecedented” and “deeply troubling” (which makes complete sense right?)—(No…)
What we wish we knew:
- We do not know if the emails contain any private information that could result in indictment
- Is it within Comey’s right to interfere with the presidential election? According to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, the Justice Department has a policy that should not allow the fed’s to interfere with an election in this manner
- Will this put an end to Clinton’s campaign or will this blow over like the first investigation?
The people of the United States deserve the truth and it should not be suppressed due to the Clinton’s power in the political realm. As of today the Clinton administration leads the polls by 3.4 points… we will soon find out if this new investigation will be the tipping point to a Trump’s trickle down United States.
