Hillary Clinton Is Not A Good Representation Of Women

Since I was a little girl, I thought it would be so cool to have a woman become president. I’m not a feminist in the slightest, but the United States has only ever had men as presidents; seeing a job dominated by men be handled by a woman would be very empowering.

For the first time in American history, one of the two major party nominees is a woman. The thought of having a woman as a nominee is exciting, but that’s about it. I was hoping for a strong, independent woman who has handled herself with poise. But we got Hillary, who does not represent women well and is not who American women should want representing them.

Before anyone jumps to conclusions, my reasons for disliking Hillary have nothing to do with her politics. Whether or not I was a part of Hillary’s party, I would be disappointed and refuse to vote for her. These are the following reasons why Hillary does not represent women well.

1. She has supported Bill through many sexual assault and cheating allegations.

A woman who is in support of female empowerment would not support and stay with a man who has had sexual assault allegations starting in college and has cheated on her publicly. Hillary was quoted saying she will “stand by her man” despite all he has done. It confuses me to see people who were very outspoken about the Brock Turner case support Hillary. Everyone was quick to jump on Brock Turner’s family who was supporting him, but they will support Hillary who basically has showed women it’s okay to stay with a man who sexually abuses women and cheats. This sets a bad example for women all over America.

2. She doesn’t pay her female interns as much as her male interns.

There is not much to say about this. She preaches leveling out the pay gap but does not practice it.

3. She has lied in the past.

We all know about Hillary’s email scandal so there’s no reason so go into the details. But she has lied over and over about the situation and even got out of the charges when any normal citizen would be incarcerated for it. Why do we want a woman to represent us that lies to get herself out of trouble and thinks she’s above the law?

4. She has no remorse for her actions.

Hillary was played a big role in the lives lost in Benghazi but acts as though she has no remorse. She was quoted saying, "Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided that they’d they go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make?" A leader should not be so nonchalant about American lives being lost. Also, she and Bill also have countless allegations against them for mysterious murders. I admit that these are only conspiracies and not facts, but they are still very suspicious and concerning. Do we want someone with this kind of blood on her hands to have the most powerful position in the United States?

I understand that not everyone is going to agree with me, but I hope someone realizes that Hillary’s campaigning to women is offensive. She does not represent women in a graceful manner such as Malala Yousafzai or Michelle Obama. Hillary has a history of lying, thinking she is above the law and enabling terrible acts. She is gaining success off of preaching women’s rights but is not practicing what she preaches. She does not set a good example for women.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
