The National Democratic Convention is defined as "a series of presidential nominating conventions held every four years since 1832 by the United States Democratic Party". Today, I believe it to be defined as a hot mess. Granted the Democrats are much more peaceful than the Republicans, which is not saying much, there is still a boatload of drama within the party. Hillary is trying her best to pave her way through all of the madness, which can be quite difficult with Trump being the Mad Hatter, however she has a long way to go in order to rebuild trust with the American people. In many ways, this Democratic Convention could have either been her saving grace or sinking Titanic. It is also incredibly difficult because she can control what she says, though she cannot control what other people say upon her behalf. However on the flip side, most people at the convention said things that should have strengthened her political voice. Thus, her job would be to just insure that her actions portrayed the personal testimonies concerning her overall character. Unfortunately she was spoken too high of and because of this should could loose the election.

Of all speakers at the Convention, most people looked forward to hearing our current president's speech (which thankfully did not disappoint).Obama started his speech in remembrance of his two terms, his family, and his overall experience working with Hillary while in office. He explained how we have bounced back from the recession, gained rights for everyone, have won major battles against terrorism, etc. Most importantly, he highlighted how we were not done. "We're not done perfecting our union, or living up to our founding creed that all of us are created equal, all of us are free in the eyes of God."In Obama's eyes, Hillary is the answer. He explained how he has worked with her; how he knows that she is a hard working individual who works for the people instead of just herself. He made her sound like a Saint, especially compared to Trump. How, when compared to Hillary, Trump has no experience and his track record displays many unpaid bills and failures. "Does anyone really believe that a guy who's spent his 70 years on this Earth showing no regard for working people is suddenly going to be your champion?"In his defense though, he has kept moving forward.

Sadly, even with Obama's help, Hillary has a long way to go. Granted all of her problems would not be solved overnight. She has a lot of trust to build and a lot of convincing to do. What would help her even more would be if they could both get on the same page. With her "never forgetting just who she's fighting for", she is seriously hurting her chances of seeming more real. She sounds like the perfect volunteer who would do anything for anyone in a heartbeat. Truthfully, it does not sound like America needs a perfect angel. They need someone who will get down and dirty to clean up what is left. They need someone to wake up and realize just what exactly is needed to get done. Sadly, even with her experience, Hillary might not be the answer. It is sad to admit to, seeing as she has so many years of working so hard with so many different high- ranking officials and presidents. Hillary probably knows the political ring better than anyone, yet she might not win. In order to relate to a hero, there must be at least one major fault present in order for the masses to understand their views and follow their story. The only fault Hillary seems to have is a trust issue, which is not a fault that America takes too kindly to. When she hid so many emails from the public she betrayed many and hurt even more. So at the moment, she gives of the persona of a perfect person with a bad past. That might be relatable. However, it is not a person America wants to get behind at the current moment. Even though Trump has more faults, he has tried his hardest to be as honest as possible (for a politician) and work towards righting his wrongs. It appears Hillary just denies them. At this Convention she could have fixed everything by coming forward, however she blew her chance. Obama can only claim so much; at the end of the day it is up to her to fix her errors. Sadly that did not happen, and now she could loose an election because of it.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
