I went to The Factory Theatre's production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown on Saturday, November 12th. It was better than I anticipated it being. I thought I would share some of my favorite parts with you guys. But, if you have not seen it yet and you don't want to be spoiled, I would wait until you've seen it to read what I write below.
SPOILERS BELOW
The first part that I really enjoyed in the play, was the song, "My Blanket and Me" that Linus, played by Nicholas Watterson, sang. I loved that he started dancing with it and even did the Tango towards the end. I think that this was a wonderful debut song for Nicholas. He did very well with the character of Linus. I thoroughly enjoyed his performance on Saturday.
The next part I enjoyed was the song, "Rabbit Chasing". I enjoyed the antics of Sally, played by Emily Gaffner, and Snoopy, played by Justin Langley, as they tried to go rabbit chasing. Partway through the song, there was even a rabbit that popped up and looked frightened of being caught. The running back and forth across the stage, in order to find a rabbit, was quite the sight.
During the song, "The Book Report", there were several little things that popped out at me that took me by surprise and really entertained me. The first thing was how Schroeder, played by Silas Groves, decided to lick the eraser of the pencil he was using to write his book report. It was very funny to watch as he slowly inched closer and closer to it, until finally making contact, only to look completely disgusted afterward. That was certainly entertaining! Also, during this scene, you realize how smart Linus is for a kid when he starts reading off what he has already written in his book report. It makes what I write as a college student seem like complete, for the lack of a better word, crap.
The last part that I wanted to share with you all was when Snoopy got his supper and sang, "Suppertime". I really enjoyed this song if only because of how excited he seemed to be about getting fed. What made me really laugh is how during the song, the cast just popped up in church choir robes and were clapping and singing in the background about suppertime.
Overall, I think this show was great and I'm definitely glad I went! If you haven't seen it yet, you have to go! They are performing it again on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30pm at The Factory Theatre. You won't regret it!
