It's hard not to second-guess our emotions in today’s society.
What if I told you that you're already good enough? That you are perfect in the exact image you were already meant to be.
It's true that life can present us with many situations that affect the way we view things, including ourselves. If we dwell on the negativity, it will continue to overwhelm us – such as the boy who made you feel as though you were never good enough for him or the professor you pleaded with for a passing grade. Perhaps those negative incidents deterred you from analyzing the real meaning behind them. You were too worried about the experience rather than focusing on what you could have learned from it.
This might come as a surprise, but it wasn't any of those individuals who made you doubt yourself. They didn’t tie your hands and stop you from reaching those New Year’s resolutions you joked about making with your roommates. The whole time, it was you who didn’t believe in yourself and didn’t grant any leeway for bumps in the road.
If you believe the world is a kind and loving place, you will see evidence of this. What we believe on the inside is always manifested on the outside. You can control and change your results by paying attention to that little voice inside your head – intuition. No other voices have the power to control you or affect how you view yourself unless you let them. The only voice that matters is yours and yours alone.
The boy I mentioned earlier? He could’ve told you that he loved you and pulled at all the heartstrings inside of you, but when he left you broken, it surely wasn’t love. It left you questioning every fiber of your being as to why you weren’t good enough for him to stay. The situations that arise in all of our lives serve as a pathway to gain a greater understanding of who you are as a person. Next time you see that boy who thought he won and destroyed you, tell him thank you for making you realize your self-worth.
You are not a victim of your life. You are your very own creation. If you are capable of creating the good, the bad and the terrible, then you’re certainly capable of change and able to redesign your life to be how you envision it.
Let's go back to the one class in which you didn’t get a passing grade. Do you really think your professor was singling you out? Your professor simply wanted to challenge you and push you to a higher limit. Sure, at the time it seemed unfair, but could you really become upset at someone who wanted to see you succeed? We are born into a society that is somewhat corrupt and a world that tells us we aren’t good enough. Misfortunes come and go, but the experience leaves behind a bitter taste that seems to resonate anytime we try to put our best foot forward.
It’s becomes a vicious cycle when you settle into a self-sabotaging rut. Rather than worrying about accomplishing your highest aspirations, worry instead about where your intuition will lead you. You can overcome the negativity and self-doubt by accepting and welcoming the unknown. It’s safe to say that almost everyone has doubted themselves at one point or another because previous experiences made us feel inadequate.
What you experience today is only temporary. There may have been trials and tribulations in the past but do not fall victim to those. Who you are as a person is not who others say you are. You were created in a perfect image, and you’re exactly who you are supposed to be in this very moment. It’s all about the journey of achieving who you envision yourself to be.
Don’t doubt yourself the next time you don’t get promoted at work. Rather than focus on the negative, focus on embracing the experiences that come now to help expand yourself beyond the perfection you already are.
