To celebrate high school graduation and going to college, my grade school friends and I took a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for a week. And to put it shortly the week was amazing. I have known these girls for over 15 years and they truly are my best friends. Between the six of us, we went to four different high schools and it was like a little pre-college test. We have always put in the effort to keep our friendships strong. We are all going to different colleges which will be really weird not having them five minutes away from me, but I know we will be able to get through it.
Now back to the trip. If you can't tell I love these girls and could talk for hours about them.
This trip was complied with a mix of relaxing and some crazy adventures. Every morning, my friend Calie and I would get our morning coffee and sit outside and just talk for a few hours until everyone else got up (we are the earlier risers of the bunch). This was such a great way to start every day because I got to spend time with my best friends and enough the beautiful view of the mountains and village below.
Our first crazy adventure was horse back riding 2,000 feet up. The views from the top of the mountain we rode were breathtaking. It was kinda terrifying going back down the hill, but it made for some great memories. After the ride, the family that owned the ranch prepared a steak dinner for us. This was hands down the best steak I have ever had. It was bigger than the size of my face!!
Our next adventure was white water rafting! This once again was breathtaking. We got turns riding the "bullseye" which is siting on the front of the raft holding onto only a rope. When we went through the first rapid, my friend Kate was launched back off of the bullseye and we couldn't even see her for a good 3 seconds.
The next night we went on a dust tour of the wildlife in Jackson Hole. We had an amazing guide named Bobby who knew everything there is to know about animals. He made the trip so much fun. Throughout the tour, we came 50 feet from a mother moose, saw a bald eagle, and saw many deer and elf. It was so fascinating to see so much wildlife in their natural habitat.
The next day, we went on a 10 mile bike ride through a field with an amazing view of the Grand Tetons. The ride was honestly kinda tough, especially for me whose extremely out of shape. Nonetheless, the ride was once again beautiful and I am really glad we did it.
To end the trip off, our flight got cancelled. With clear skies both in Wyoming and back home, we were left trying to scramble to find new flights home. Myself and two of my friends got on a flight the next day; however, it was a connecting flight which resulted in a 12 hour travel day. The rest of my friends were able to get home the next day as well, but trust me when I say it was a stressful last day. We had to find a hotel that had availability, deal with then getting locked out of our hotel room, making many, many trips to the airport the next day, and booking our own flights home.
In the end, this trip was such a fun experience and something I know we will remember forever. We had countless nights full of making new inside jokes and memories. Thank you to my best friends for making this week amazing!
