Dear high school teachers,
First off, thank you. Thank you for waking up each and every morning to go to school to teach me. You have a lot to put up with. Not every class is full of kind, respectful, obedient students that are eager to learn. Thank you for the patience you had towards me and my fellow classmates. Thank you for helping me succeed and reach an important milestone in my life -- graduating high school. You do not receive enough credit for all your hard work and dedication. You listen to us students complain about how boring the subject matter is and how many pounds of homework we have to complete. This is a thank you letter for all the things you did for me over my four years in high school.
Thank you the life lessons.
By going to your classroom every day, I did not just learn the material that I needed to pass the exam or the class. You taught me deeper things, sometimes without saying a word, such as how to love myself, even when it's hard. You also taught me to love others, no matter how bad they treated me. You encouraged me to chase my dreams, no matter how far fetched they seemed. I am forever grateful for the endless life lessons.
Thank you for pushing me.
Even when I felt like my world was falling apart or I was going to break into a million pieces, you pushed me to continue on and not give up. Thank you for pushing me past my limits even when I wanted to give up and call it quits. You saw potential in me that I never was able to see in myself. After failing an AP Bio test or my first AP U.S. History test of the year, you used encouraging words to raise my spirits. Your continual push helped me score a 3 or above on all of my AP exams, even the ones that I thought I failed miserably. You pushed me to finish the AP essay, even though my time was running short. Without your encouragement, I wouldn't be the person I am today.
Thank you for impacting my life in a positive way.
To you, I wasn't just another student. We built a strong relationships in our frequent after school study sessions in an effort help me understand chemistry and calculus. High school was a very difficult, different experience, but with your help, I was able to adjust and be very successful. You made an impact on my life and I'll never forget you.
To my tenth grade AP U.S. History teacher, thank youfor sparking my love for American History. Thank you for introducing me to "Band of Brothers" and "The Men Who Built America." Thank you for helping me learn to study properly and write kick-butt AP essays that are not “vague" but filled with plenty of "SFI."
To my eleventh grade Chemistry teacher, thank you for dealing with me and my emotional self. I know I really sucked at Chemistry and I still do to this day. I still know the periodic table by heart and still remember many of the weekly vocabulary words. Thank you for teaching me to love science and pushing me to chase my dreams. Thank you for the many after school tutor sessions when I had no clue what a mole or stoichiometry was. (P.S. Thanks for helping me write a kick butt essay to get in my dream school, you rock.)
To my twelfth grade calculus teacher, thank you for never giving up on me. I know I was horrible at calculus, but you pushed me to finish strong. I’ll always remember how to take a derivative, even if it takes me 30 minutes.
To my college advisor, thank you for pushing me. Without our many meetings, I would have probably never applied to all the colleges I did. Thank you for always proofreading my essays to make them sound better and encouraging me to think out of the box. I'll never forget the times we laughed and cried together, especially when I got the news that I got into my dream school.
To my twelfth grade AP Literature teacher, thank you for teaching me how to write properly. Thank you for never laughing at my timed essays because to be honest, some of them were terrible and I’m sorry you had to read them. Thank you for always putting a smile on my face, every time I walked in your class.
To my ninth grade Business teacher, thank you for sharing your love of Business with me. Thank you for being the best FBLA advisor there ever has been! You made all the Regional and State events fun-filled! I am so thankful I was able to spend all four years in your classroom.
To my twelfth grade Spanish teacher, thank you for helping me understand a new language. Thank you for always making learning fun, especially with my crazy class. I will always love the movies we watched and the songs we studied. Thank you for also being an awesome cheer coach.
To all my high school teachers, thank you for all that you did for me.
Sincerely,
A grateful high school graduate
