In A Few Months Your Life Will Change

High School Seniors, Cherish Your Last Semester
Autumn Jordan

Hey Seniors,

Right now your in the final stretch. The last run, the final test, you can almost see the finish line. All your life you have attended school and in a few months it will all be over. Soon you're going to cross that stage, move that tassel, and grab your diploma. You're almost there. After all that time the day you've been dreaming of is on its way. At the beginning of your senior I know you didn't think it was going to go by so fast, but it has. Look at how fast that first semester went by. Just know that life goes by even faster. You have grown up over the years and moved from grade to grade. Along the way you might have lost a few friends or faced some struggles, but it's all going to be worth it. This year is your year. Maybe you arrived at your senior year ready for it to be over the first day it started. I know you've been itching to get out of high school for years and years to come, but wait. Your last semester is where you'll make the most memories. These short months are the last time you'll walk those halls. Get a good view cause in a few decades you'll forget how it felt to be the seniors. Soon it will be the last time you'll see all your classmates. Maybe your only friends with a few of them, but take a moment to look around and say, "Well I didn't go on this journey alone." Take a moment to repair any wrongs. You wouldn't want to walk away from a friendship and never see someone who at one point was your biggest support. It's time to grow up and put the pettiness aside. Don't forget to thank your teachers. Even if you have only had them for one semester they have helped shaped you into a future high school graduate. Especially don't forget those teachers who have become your school mom and dad. They are immensely proud of you, so don't forget to let them know just how lucky you were to have their guidance. Another important thing is don't forget where you came from. Why not take a trip back to your old elementary school? Those teachers were the spark that helped you make it to the 12th grade. But i think the most important thing to do your last semester of high school is to smile, laugh, and enjoy the last loop of the ride. This is it. I promise you'll want to remember your last memories as happy ones. Don't rush to leave just yet. As soon as you've completed your walk across that stage, your life will change. So high school seniors please, cherish your last semester and don't forget to take tons of pictures.

Sincerely,

Autumn J.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
