To The High School Senior Who Is Already Over High School

Senior year isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Senior year is always seen as the best year of high school, but for some that isn't true. Some incoming seniors dread still having another year of high school left. I was one of those seniors who felt miserable most of senior year. There were good times with friends, but overall it wasn't the awesome experience everyone makes it out to be. Here's what I have to tell those seniors who, like me, just couldn't wait for senior year to be over and done with only a week in.

It's okay to not enjoy senior year, I didn't. Don't force yourself to do things you don't want to do just because it's "part of the experience" of senior year. Skip your last homecoming if you don't want to go. Skip your last anything if you don't want to go because it may be senior year but it's still your life. Do the things you want to do. You'll be glad because they make the year a little bit better. Anything to make senior year easier for you is what you should do.

Don't skip school though, you'll miss a lot more than you think. It may feel great to just not go, but you should go. You need to do well academically your senior year for your future and to graduate. It's not fun, especially if you got stuck with a full schedule as a senior, but go to school and pay attention in class.

You may not enjoy academics, but learning more in life is an important thing and if you actually pay enough attention in school you can learn loads of information. There's a lot that teachers don't teach in class, but class can teach you life skills. You can learn material and people in school.

Take from those around constantly to learn how to deal with people and how to see the world in a way you never have before. It's hard to do, but it makes senior year worth at least something.

Even if you don't do anything I've mentioned thus far, please don't give up. Fight the urge to just give up because I can assure you the wait for high school's end is worth it. You'll move on to much greater things than sitting at a desk all day scribbling notes down that you'll never look at.

College will come and you'll love it. You'll finally know where you belong and school won't be boring. Your classes are in your hands to do with them as you want and your free time is yours. You get to be the adult you've waited to be.

You'll explore who you are and meet the people you'll befriend for life. Just know that the struggle is real to get through senior year but take it from me, you'll survive and get to live the life you always dreamed of.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
