Hidden Gems of College Park

Tired of your usual hangout spots? Try one of these hidden places that most UMD students find out about until later in their college career.

Lake Artemesia

Most Maryland students find out about Lake Artemesia eventually. It's a really beautiful lake in College Park where students chose to go running by or to just go for a walk.

Old Town Park

While it has a huge playground and doesn't seem like a place for college students, there is a field right next to the playground to play sports or just to relax after a long day of class.

Washington Quad

It's a huge quad on South Campus that most people don't know about. You can grill there, throw a frisbee around or just relax. It was renovated in 2008 for students to enjoy.

E+M Cafe

This cafe is located in the Glenn Martin Engineering Building and offers a deli and a Taco Bell. Most people don't know about this hidden gem, but if you're at the front of campus it is the perfect place to go to grab a quick bite. You can also use dining points at the deli, so it beats paying for food.

The Peace and Friendship Garden

This garden is on the vista of University House. It includes different sculptures designed by a variety of Chinese artists. Students are welcome to visit anytime time and it is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon.
