All day, every day, you can find me watching TV. Not just any channel, though, only HGTV. I fall asleep with "Beach Hunters" in the background and obsess over "Fixer Upper" during the day. Thanks to this channel, I now know exactly what my future house will look like. Yes, I am that girl who has multiple Pinterest boards full of barn doors, white kitchens, and farmhouse sinks. But seriously, who doesn't love some good shiplap?! These are reasons why I'm so loyal to HGTV.

1. Two words: "FIXER UPPER."

This is the holy grail of all home renovation and house hunting shows. Chip and Joanna Gaines are the ultimate couple goals. They have super cute kids (with another on the way), lots of animals, and their home is AMAZING. Waco, Texas is where I wanna be.

2. It's educational (sort of).

The shows on HGTV can teach so many things! I've learned about real estate, negotiation, and home improvement. It also puts the "real world" of money into perspective. Thanks to this channel, I know how to take down a wall.

3. It has inspired a generation of "do it yourselfers."

With shows like "Fixer Upper", "Flip or Flop" and "Property Brothers", people are catching the DIY bug and flipping their own homes. Old, run-down houses are selling like mad and people are turning them into their dream homes with just a little elbow grease (and about $100,000).

4. The Dream Home.

Every year, HGTV gives away their "Dream Home" of the year. They remodel a beautiful, big home somewhere desirable and stock it with the latest technology and designs. Goals.

5. Vacation ideas.

Watching "Beachfront Bargain Hunt" gives me a real case of vacation withdrawal. Seeing people look at homes on islands and coasts gives me so many new places to google and vacations to plan.

6. The huge variety of shows.

There are 123 different HGTV series. Now, not all 123 of them are running, but... still. There's always something new to watch!

7. It's wholesome.

There is not one show on this channel that has anything to do with sex, nudity, drugs, crime, or anything of the like that seems to populate every other channel. Now, don't get me wrong, I love me some "Criminal Minds" and "Grey's Anatomy." But, it's nice to watch something nice every now and then (or all the time 24/7).

If you're someone who thinks that all these shows are overrated, I highly encourage you to check them out anyways. Or, you might think that home renovation television isn't for you! Well, I have news for you, Susan, it's for everyone. Now, in the wise words of Chip Gaines, "How far do you think I can stick this nail up my nose?"

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
