Hey America

Let's vote for love

Hey America
listoftoptenz.com

I want to preface this article by saying I don't know a lot about the specifics of politics. I also don't like making political posts. However, this article will not promote any affiliation in particular. In fact, it's more of an anti-political post, which is exactly what America needs right now.

Whether you support him or not, the fact of the matter is, Donald Trump will be President of the United States come January 2017. I know I've only been alive for five presidential elections, but I have never witnessed such a divide in our country after an election. Riots, burning the American flag, and other forms of violent protest should not be the response to our new leader being elected. I don't know if this partition comes from the influence of the media and social media forms, the corruptness of the Democratic and Republican candidates, or some combination of the two. Whatever the cause, it needs to come to an end. We need to start acting like the united nation we were meant to be.

We need to stop making generalizations and criticizing one another. Stop calling all Republicans racist, sexist, and homophobic. Having conservative beliefs does not make you a horrible person. Stop calling all Democrats hypocrites. Not all Democrats are even protesting Trump's victory; a lot of them still are advocating love and open-mindedness. Stop blaming everyone who voted for a third party or didn't vote at all. Voting is an American right. You are not obligated to vote, nor must you vote for a Democrat or a Republican. You are entitled to vote or not vote for whomever you choose (including a dead gorilla, but let's not even go there). We need to be kind to each other and support one another regardless of political affiliation. This isn't the 1950s. You can be friends with a liberal even if you're conservative.

The best part about all of this is that Donald Trump has no effect on your personal life. Whether you are black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Muslim, Jewish, Christian, gay, bisexual, heterosexual, transsexual, male, female, transgender, what have you, you can still be a good American and a kind person. You can still smile and say hello to people walking down the street, hold the door for the next person, lend an ear for someone having a bad day, help your neighbor paint their house, help your classmate with the homework, make a child laugh. So be that good person, whether it be in support of Trump or in spite of him. Don't be taken over by hatred. Let love triumph.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
