Hey you! Yes, you, the person reading this right now. Guess what? We need more people like you!

You may be thinking to yourself, well how do you know we need more people like me? Well for starters you are reading this article right now, supporting student writing and giving your time and thought to something as simple as this. Yes, we need more people like you, people who still read and take the time to critically think about the things that are on the internet and surfacing the media.

To the person who is a struggling college student, who is not only putting themselves through school but working as well – the world needs you. People who still work hard for what they want, and do something that they stand for. The world needs those creative hard working minds, you are the future of society and we need you.

To the person who is working night and day on their craft, whether it be music, dance, art, meditation or anything in-between the world needs you. More than ever the world needs the diversity and character you are bringing right now into this world. Sharing your craft or art is one of the most valuable things you have to offer this world. Trust me it’s helping more people than you think -the world needs you.

To the person who is working overtime night and day and putting everything they have into their job – the world needs you. Hard work is not only a valuable skill, but being able to still sane at the end of the day is a talent and gift. Know you are appreciated and loved and while it may not seem like much now, you have very well changed someone’s day for the better.

The world needs the innovators, the inventors, the creators, and the lovers. Next time you think you have nothing to offer the world because of where you are at in life think again. Every single one of us on the Earth have something positive to contribute to this world whether we believe it or not. Even a small act of kindness such as a smile can make the world in someone else’s life. The world is seeing too much of the “same” people in the media. Whether it’s looking a certain way or following the crowd. Know there is power and unity in being yourself and giving the world what you have to offer.

And to the person who is still trying to figure out what they have to offer, and is still trying to chase their dreams, know that nothing is impossible, and chasing a dream alone can inspire people in more ways than one. The world needs YOU, you are the voice of tomorrow and of today. You are making a difference now as you read this. Don’t give up, I promise whatever trials you are facing right now, or even in the future.

What you have to offer this world is far more greater than anything that will come your way.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
