I went to Hershey Park for the first time at the age of 21 and it was certainly an interesting experience. I've been to other amusement parks but nothing like Hershey Park. I went in with no expectations and I was prepared for anything. It didn't go as smooth as I was hoping though...
The beginning of my day went well when I rode my first rollercoaster of my life. I don't remember what it was called though. All I know is that it was wooden. I was slightly nervous but I knew that it was something a lot of people have experienced so I was ready. The ride went fantastic. The waiting in line for the ride is another story. There was a 7-year-old boy who was about to get on the ride alone (don't know how that was allowed but I digress). As I was standing there in line with one of my best friends, the boy told us "my best friend died on a rollercoaster once." I didn't know if he was just messing with us or if it actually happened. I still don't.
I didn't let what he said to me affect me though. I got on the ride and had a lot of fun.
Afterward, my friend and I went to our second ride, Laff Trakk. The indoor rollercoaster looked interesting and I couldn't wait to ride it. The events that followed changed my plans for the rest of the day. We got on the rollercoaster, we started the ride when suddenly it stopped at the top of the track continuously spinning. The ride had broken down.
The ride breaking down would've been okay with me if it wasn't for the spinning that the ride was definitely not supposed to do. After about three minutes the ride started moving again and we rode until the end of it. Immediately afterward I became one of the many people that throw up after rollercoasters. I would've been fine if it wasn't for the malfunction.
I remained nauseous for the rest of the day. I decided that I wasn't going to ride any more rollercoasters for the day but I'm not turning them down for the rest of my life. I had an eventful morning and needed a calm afternoon.
The rest of the day I spent time at the arcade or on non-rollercoasters. Despite Laff Trakk's malfunction, I had a great day and I can't wait to go back one day. I just hope nothing breaks down.
