A couple weeks ago my friend and I realized we had lost our Snapchat streak. If you aren't familiar with the app it allows you to send photos and videos that disappear in ten seconds. A streak on Snapchat is when two people send at least one photo or video back and forth to each other every day. My best friend and I discovered we'd lost our Snapchat streak of 604 days. We shouldn't have lost our streak because we had snapchatted that morning. When a streak is in danger of running out, an hourglass timer appears to warn you the streak will end. We didnt see the timer at all the day before we found out we lost our streak. Extremely disheartened but also determined we decided to email Snapchat and tell them our dilemma. Our email was quite wordy and we weren't expecting to hear from them ever. After two weeks went by, I had completely forgot about the entire thing. Then I opened a Snapchat from my best friend which said:" OMG DUDE OUR STREAK IS BACK!" I got so excited I reloaded the Snapchat screen to see for myself. In fact, our streak had been put back! This story is a perfect example of fighting for what you want. The email is shown below:

'Hello Snapchat,

My best friend Kylie and I have loved and supported Snapchat since the app came out. We're devoted consumers to the app. Although we've been best friends for years, we started a streak two years ago on April 19th, 2015. We've kept it going through a 3 week trip I took to Italy and a one week trip she took to Mexico. Once, in ninth grade we got in a fight. Even during the fight when we were ignoring each other in person, we continued our streak, because it's that important to us. Our streak was like a firstborn child to the both of us, one we nurtured each and every day. Maybe it's due to the stress of finals or the fact that both of us have non stop activities from the moment we wake up until bedtime, but yesterday we lost our streak of 604 days. Kylie and I don't understand how we lost our streak for a few reasons. First, we snapchatted pictures to each other yesterday morning. Second, we chatted each other yesterday and were not aware that chats didn't count toward a streak. There is absolutely no reason that chats should not count as a contribution to a streak because you're still communicating with the person. Third, we didn't see the timer next to either of our names warning us that it was running out. It may've been present over night, but we were both getting well rested for our finals the next day. We are emailing you to request that you put our streak of 604 back. We are confused because we had snapchatted at least once that morning so there should be no reason we lost our streak. Hopefully, you put it back because it's something extremely important to us and until yesterday had the longest streak in our school. Honestly, it was one of our best accomplishments and we are so sad it ended. Thank you for your time and we hope you take this into consideration,

A very disheartened Maddie and Kylie.'

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
