The COVID-19 pandemic has shown people that the true heroes in our lives are doctors.
Doctors, alongside nurses, are the first responders to the COVID-19 pandemic and have been putting their lives on the line every single day to make sure that no one else has to. Since this pandemic has started, there has been an exponential growth in posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and news sources of appreciation towards doctors and health care workers.
The COVID-19 pandemic is giving people that aren't usually exposed to medicine in daily life the realization of how important doctors are.
These posts of appreciation toward those who work in healthcare aren't anything new, but they certainly have not been this frequent and with such a large scope. I believe that people have always been grateful to doctors, but they haven't felt the need to show appreciation to these heroes on a daily occurrence. Typically, that kind of praise and appreciation is given to celebrities, but now, finally, they are directed at healthcare workers. It is very endearing and heartwarming that we recognize their heroism.
Our support for healthcare workers cannot fade after COVID-19 has been eradicated and is just a memory.
Our love and support for healthcare workers should continue throughout our day-to-day lives. Doctors do not only step up during pandemics — they step up every day.
As a daughter of a pediatrician, I've witnessed firsthand how doctors are heroes.
After working in my mother's office, I saw the compassion and care that she shows each patient to ensure a healthy life. It's important to realize that every day a doctor holds life in their hands and does whatever is in their power to save it. Every day a doctor, like my mom, holds a newborn in their hands and starts the journey of providing a lifetime of care. Doctors play such an integral role in our lives.
They make sure that every human life is given the chance at the pursuit of happiness with the best odds.
They've always been our heroes, now we're finally giving them the praise they deserve.
