In the face of final exams, projects, and papers, most of us need something playing in the background to help us study better. And who better to help us study than the brightest witch of her age: Hermione Granger. The queen of studying and passing exams with flying colors, while also being fabulous, probably has her own playlist for studying. So here it is:
1. "Wheel of Fortune" from "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest"
It's been said that anything can happen when the score of "Pirates of the Caribbean" plays. This is mostly due to its main theme that pops up throughout all four movies and the upcoming fifth. Although Hermione may not be an apt rule-breaker, she in not above working outside the rules for the betterment of all. So this song definitely makes her list.
2. "A Postcard to Henry Purcell" from "Pride and Prejudice" (2005)
It will come as no shock to anyone that Hermione is a fan of classic British literature and Jane Austen definitely falls into the category. Therefore the beloved score from the 2005 adaptation would probably entice her literary ears. This particular part of the score favors the use of violins to increase the tension of the main protagonists and this edge gives Hermione motivation to sharpen her wit on paper.
3. "The Battle" from "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe"
A beloved children's book for many turned into a lovely adaption, the adventures of Narnia are spellbinding. And no doubt Hermione appreciates this mix of family, magic and defeating evil. The battle near the end of the film is intense, and we can all use a little adrenaline when studying for exams, beyond what coffee can provide.
4. "This Land" from "The Lion King"
Hermione is, of course, a Gryffindor so it follows that she would love "The Lion King." And the moment in which Simba ascends the thone of Pride Rock, with angelic voices ringing, is precisely motivating to accomplish the task set before us.
5. "Concerning Hobbits" from "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring"
Hermione probably loves "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit," so it stands to reason she would also enjoy the epic films. One of the first scores in the film in the intro to the hobbit way of life in the Shire, a very relaxing and pleasant melody supported by violins. This would be a nice brain break song, time to refill the coffee or tea.
6. "The Hanging Tree" from "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"
Katniss Everdeen is a force to be reckoned with, just like Hermione herself, just in different ways. A bit of an intense song that starts off soft, it builds into a drive for revolution and change.
7. "Glasgow Love Theme" from "Love Actually"
A classic British film that is probably Hermione's guilty pleasure Valentine's film. So the main theme, that spells of soft Christmastime is probably of more use in rereading major passages of textbooks.
8. "Canon in D Major" by Johann Pachelbel
Hermione is probably also a fan of classical music and thus "Canon in D" finds its way onto her list. It's light and airy sound also makes for good reading material.
9. "Claire de Lune" by Claude Debussy
Another classic hit, but this one a bit more full sounding. This would probably be when Hermione was going over her flashcards again, and again, and again. The wholesome chords of Debussy probably help reinforce concepts.
10. "The River Flows in You" by Yiruma
A bit more of a modern song, River Flows is widely used in study playlists, and Hermione's is no exception. It's peppy rise and fall of notes allows for a small bloom of energy.
11. "The Kings of the Golden Hall" from "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers"
Another Lord of the Rings song finds its way onto the playlist, mostly becomes it screams epicness with the intro of the Rohan in the second film. It's reinvigorating and motivating to continue pressing on to throw the darn ring into the fires of Mount Doom or finish the 10-page paper.
12. "Liz on Top of the World" from "Pride and Prejudice" (2005)
A swirling, mystical song from the Austen adaptation, that plays over the intrinsic and captivating landscape of England. This piece is inspiring, to say the least. And Hermione need only look outside the window for a moment and see the exact same kind of view.
13. "Fairy Dance" from "Peter Pan" (2003)
Another children's story turned into a fantastic film, Hermione probably learned about Peter Pan as a young girl, dreaming of adventures with him in a magical place. Though she lacks the boy that never grows up, she's definitely found the magical world. And this song reminds her to believe in such things as fairies.
14. "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Hermione is well learned and she probably saw a few ballets with her parents as a child. And another story of a young girl transported to a magical land, where she saves the day, was probably enthralling to the young Hermione. And this classic song encourages everyone to dance to their goals.
15. "So This is Love" from "Cinderella" (1950)
A waltz-y song with a lovely sway to it. This piece from classic Disney film is definitely one to sway around the room with while reading a book for class.
16. "Touch the Sky" from "Brave"
Disney's Brave takes place in Scotland, the actual location of Hogwarts school. So it is no wonder Hermione is inspired by this woman-power song.
17. "Valentine's Dance Tango" from "Another Cinderella Story"
Hermione probably often felt a lot like Cinderella, trying to fit in. This song with its sassy flair and romantic tension makes for great calculation music.
18. "Mulan's Decision" from "Mulan"
The tale of a strong woman, defying prejudices of her culture? Of course, Hermione would love it. And this piece, which marks Mulan's choice to join the army for the sake of her father, inspires just about anyone to take that step into a much bigger world.
19. "Becoming One of the 'People'" from "Avatar"
Fitting in has always been a struggle for Hermione, especially being from a different culture. This piece marks the montage of Jake Sulley's in-depth journey to become part of the natives. This would inspire Hermione to continue her magical education and become part of this community.
20. "La Primavera" by Antonio Vivaldi
A peppy classic, with high violins and extravagant medleys, reminds that this is spring and after final exams, we are free. All it takes is a little push to the end, to allow the last flowers to bloom.
21. "The Imperial March" from "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back"
And finally, the last song on the playlist is sort of reminder piece. Whether she was to take this as a warning or inspiration to be awesome, probably depends.
