We always hear, “Oh my, you look just like your mother!” or, “You and your mom are so close!” Don’t be mistaken, moms are actually the bomb.com. She’s actually the reason we’re functional human beings (well, most of the time).
Our moms are also ALWAYS there when we’re in trouble, they’re most likely the ones doing the lecturing. We’re so used to it. But when dad steps in and lays down his “I’m disappointed in you” speech, there’s just a solid lump sitting in your throat. There’s literally nothing worse. Besides maybe when he whips out a corny joke in front of all your friends... yeah, that’s definitely worse.
Aside from the horrible jokes and how he repeats them to everyone he meets (even though you laugh EVERY time), his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and everyone and his... unique sense of style, your dad was the first man you loved and the first man who loved you. You’re his baby girl. He fought the monsters under your bed when you were 5, then instilled the strength in you to fight the monsters you encounter today.
As we get older, we learn more about ourselves. One thing I’ve learned is I am just like my father. How many times has my mom told me, “You’re your father’s daughter”?
He’s the one who does all of the handy work, changes the oil in your car, fixes the faucet, carries the bags and so much more. But what only we get to see is -- the man with the strongest and toughest hands has the softest heart.
So dad, through the awkward stages, the horrible boys, the heartbreak and the minute you realized we were all grown up, we're always going to be your little girl. You're forever going to be our favorite man. We promise.
