Fall is nearly here. As a farewell to Summer, here is a poem written in its honor. We'll miss the memories, but definitely not the heat. Here's to you, summer.
Summer Is
Summer Is
long days on the beach
warm days, warm smileS, and warm hearts
new romances budding like a fresh Georgia peach
snow cone messes doubling as works of art
Summer Is
bodies covered in tan lines and tattoos
spraying on tanning oil and laying in the sUn to bake
everything is bright, shiny, and new
warm weather makes risks easier to take
Summer Is
memories eternalized in constant photographs
trips to the coMmunity pool
The stifling Alabama heat Makes you sweat, curse, laugh
personalities that glitter like jewels
Summer Is
loud music and loud voices
parties that never end
freedom to make your own choices
never regretting Messages after you hit “send”
Summer is
smiles on faces and kisses on tan cheeks
hours spent prEparing for dates
never holding back your opinions or being afraid to speak
never second guessing and always tempting fate
Summer is
cool sheets and sleeping in late
walking the beach, hand in hand
freedom to sit in the silence and contemplate
drawing your initials with heaRts in the sand
Summer is
a world of I had It's own
separate from the rest of time and space
a place where new memorIes and new love are grown
full of heat, waves, laughter, and Southern grace
