Here's To My Favorite Season

Falling hard for Fall....

Here's To My Favorite Season

When most people think of the fall season, they think of Halloween, pumpkins, candy corn and, of course, cold, bitter weather. But there's so much more to this season than just those things. Here are some of my favorites...

1. The Fashion (mostly the leggings LOL)

Although wearing shorts, tank tops and flip flops is nice, it's not as great as wearing flannels, boots, jeans, big hoodies and leggings, of course. For those who know me really well, know that I always wear leggings and own like fifty pairs. They're my go to during the fall/winter just because they're super comfy and go with everything. And don't even get me started on fuzzy socks, LOL.

2. The Colorful Trees

As a girl that loves colorful things, the leaves upon all the trees get me super excited. I love walking or driving down the street and seeing all types of trees filled with so many colors. It makes me very happy (sorry if that sounds cheesy). And especially as someone who is looking to become a big photographer, I love capturing photos of all the beautiful sights. Moments like those don't last forever.

3. The Cold, Crisp Air

It might sound weird but, the air is just so much better during the Autumn season. It's fresher and it's easier to breath in, especially since it's not as humid as it is during the summer. I look forward to waking up and going outside to catch a breathe of the air. It definitely wakes me up!

4. Apple Picking

When I was younger, my family and I used to always take a trip to an orchard, where we would pick apples. I loved getting to hold my own bag and fill it up with whatever types of apples I wanted. I would walk down the aisle of trees, which seemed to continue on forever. But it was always a struggle for me, since I've always been short and had trouble reaching most of the apples. But with the help of my family, I was still able to fill up my bag, lol.

5. Fall Sports Start Up (Hockey, in particular)

Now, for most people that know me, know that I am a huge hockey girl. I've always loved the sport. I played when I was younger and eventually gave it up to try something new. But my passion for this sport didn't die down when I gave up playing. To this day, I attend almost all of my younger brother's games and I enjoy every single one. I also always watch or listen to NHL games. Being from Buffalo, NY I am proud to say I'm a HUGE fan of the Buffalo Sabres. Although the Sabres don't always win or advance to the finals, their games are awesome to watch, as well as attend!

6. Pumpkin Picking

Ever since I was a little girl, I've always loved to go and pick my own pumpkin. Even today (me being 17, almost 18) I still prefer to walk in a muddy patch, just to find myself a perfect pumpkin. Just the joy of being able to keep the tradition alive, is awesome! I definitely look forward to this every year!

7. Halloween

Last, but not least, Halloween. Oh so spooky. October 31st is one of my favorite days of the year. Getting to dress up as your favorite princess, singer, movie star, etc. is so exciting! Last year, I stayed home and passed out candy and it's so adorable to see all of these young kids dressed up and it's even more adorable to hear them tell me all about their costume! To see them so excited to get candy, brings me back to when I was their age and would be so overwhelmed just to get one piece of candy!

Now those were only some of my reasons as to why I love the fall time so very much. I could keep going but, this article would never end, lol.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
