Here's To New Adventures, New Life Lessons, And A New Year

Well, I'm writing this on New Year's Eve morning and 2016 is officially coming to an end. Like any year, this past year has had its ups and down, controversial debates, and let us never forget the Clinton vs. Trump showdown.

Some people dwell on how terrible their 2016 was while others just can't stop talking about how great it was. Either way, New Year's Eve is the night we turn a page in a book called Life and come upon a new chapter called 2017 (cheesy, I know). After all the fireworks have been popped and you finally lay your head down on the pillow, the excitement of a new year will die, but it shouldn't because a new year will mean new adventures, and that's something worth freaking out over.

My new and biggest adventure that I'm looking forward to in 2017 is starting college. Everyone has something to look forward too. Even if it's just a concert or something fun like that. Maybe a tiny human will come along and make you a parent, aunt, or uncle. Becoming an aunt in 2015 was a big adventure for me and to this day it still continues to be one of my favorite adventures.

In 2017 you can meet the love of your life, find your forever best friend, or uncover a hidden talent. The possibilities are endless. 2017 can be your best year yet if you choose to make it that way.

A new year means new chances. A chance to become a better person and fix certain relationships that may be broken. A chance to retry all those 2016 resolutions that just didn't work out in your favor last year.

Don't get me wrong, 2017 will definitely have it's fair share of up and down's too. Bad things will happen to the best of us. But it's all about surrounding ourselves with people who will stick by us through thick and thin.

Step into 2017 with your head held high and the best hopes. Have fun with your friends. Worry less and love a little more. Go with the flow of things. Hope for the best. Make 2017 your year and the best one yet. Here's to a new year and new adventures.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
