The recent refugee crisis in Europe and Trump's rants about Mexican immigrants have pushed the myth that immigrant steal jobs that were meant for the native people of the country they migrated to. According to a public opinion poll on immigrants and jobs, the majority of people believe that in one way or another, immigrants occupy jobs rather than create them.
The reality, however, is the exact opposite. While a flux of immigration leads to a temporary shortage in employment and lowers wage temporarily, in the long term, an influx of immigrants leads to an increase in total population with means higher demand for goods.
