Here's to the Holiday Spirits

The Holidays are a time to celebrate with loud family members, cuddly pets, and LOTS of tasty booze. But as the Christmas spirit fades, the relatives travel home and break draws to a lull, we seem to celebrate our homecoming a little less festively.

Here's to the Holiday Spirits

This is the exact opposite of how we should be bidding adieu to the Holiday. Instead, as vivacious, young adults we should be spending the little time we have at home appropriately. Here are 7 delicious ways to channel that leftover cheer into something your family and friends can enjoy.

1) Roasted Marshmallow Shots

A shot that is perfect for the early starter or the festive holiday party crowd. Caution: generous consumption of Baileys should probably come after the fire and burner steps.

2) Peppermint Mocha-tini

This cocktail is the perfect alcoholic twist on the beloved Starbucks peppermint mocha coffee beverage. Not to mention it will give you just the swift kick in the stockings you need to get your yuletide on.

3) Cranberry Margarita

This wintery concoction proves that Margarita Monday is not
seasonally discriminatory. Move over vodka we are bringing in the big guns.

4) Mistletoe Mojito

This super easy pomegranate Popsugar recipe is as pretty as it is tangy. Who are we to deny ourselves a healthy dose of antioxidants? I say you better make sure you go back for seconds.

5) Winter Delight

Nothing warms the soul – or the lips- like a glass of bourbon dressed for the festivities. AskMen has ingeniously published a hard cider recipe that won’t make your teeth feel like they are rotting out of your holly jolly head.

6) Holiday Sangria Surprise

The surprise you ask? Besides the disorientation of waking up in nothing but themed holiday socks without the slightest idea of where you are, this seasonal recipe also puts a twist on a traditional favorite with hints of caramel and cider. What screams Feliz Navidad louder than mixing your alcohols?

7) The 24 Carat Champagne Cocktail

If you are really feeling like a holiday baller garnish your drink with some gold stars, and pour some Goldschläger. Fill the rest of your flute with champagne and a few raspberries for class. Don't forget to stick that pinky out.

Happy New Years, and Merry Drinkmas you filthy animals!

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
