I, like many, get attacked by mosquitoes every time I step outside. It seems like there is no way to hide from these little guys. Here are a few ways to try and avoid getting those awful bug bites.
1. Obviously, wear bug spray.
Yes it is sticky and smells weird, but is it worse than having 20 bug bites up and down your legs?
2. They have bug repellent bracelets or clip-ons.
I am personally not sure how well these work, but if you are against the smell and stickiness of bug spray it is worth a try.
3. Burn sage or lemon over hot coals to keep them out of your yard.
The smoke itself works as an insect repellent, and the scent is pleasing to us!
4. Burn citronella candles.
You can get these pretty much anywhere, burn them on the tables and around the area outside and the scent and smoke should keep the bugs away.
5. Rub the skin with baby oil.
This will deter black flies, as well as mosquitoes.
When you try all of these things and you still get eaten alive. Here are a few more tips on how to relieve the horrible itch these pesky bugs give you.
1. Rub on lemon juice
Dab it on with a cotton ball, make sure you have no open cuts or else it will burn.
2. DON'T SCRATCH THEM.
Scratching them makes it itch much more than before you ever touched it.
3. Rub white vinegar onto the bite
Be careful of this one, because if you have been scratching and the skin is raw it may burn.
4. Put on scotch tape or a band aid
This will make sure you don't itch it.
5. Aspirin paste
Crush up Aspirin, add a little water and you have a paste!
6. Make an oatmeal paste
Same thing as with Aspirin, add a little water and dab it on.
7. Use ice
The coldness of the ice will numb the skin, numb skin doesn't feel itchiness.
