We've all been stressed at some point and have no motivation to study or do our work. After finding ourselves doing this more than once, it can become a habit. This is not a good habit either. Once this keeps happening, our grades start to slip and we may not have a lot of time to get them back up. Well, here are 5 ways that you can improve your grades and make sure they stay up!
1. Pay attention in class.
There are das that the teacher discusses things in class that catch our attention, but there also days where it may be the most boring topics ever! When we get bored, we have a tendency to zone out or lose our focus. This may be hard to do, but try your best to pay attention to as much as you can, if not all of the material in class. This will definitely help to boost your grade because you will have a better understanding on the material when it comes time to take the test.
2. Go to class.
In order for you to be able to pay attention in class, you actually have to go. Sure it may be like snowing and way below freezing outside, but bundle up and do yourself the favor of going. Some professors keep attendance and will give you some extra points if you have good attendance. By going to class, you will be able to listen to how the material is being taught rather than copying notes off of a friend or getting them online.
3. Ask questions.
When the teacher asks if there are any questions in class, don't be afraid to raise your hand if you aren't sure on something. Chances are there is probably at least two or more people who had the same question but were afraid to ask.
4. Take advantage of office hours.
Professors and teachers just don't have office hours for the fun of it. There may not be time in class to ask questions or get a full understanding of a concept. Use your free time to go talk to them during office hours. They will be more than happy to help you!
5. Study, study, study.
Do not wait until the night before an exam to study. College is not like high school where you can study for an hour the night before an exam or even "wing-it". Start studying a few nights each week in the weeks leading up to the exam. This will eliminate so much stress and make you breeze right through your exam.
There you have it! Five simple and easy ways to improve your grades and keep them up!
